I am currently knitting toy teddy bears for my younger relatives for the holidays. Why knit if you can't give it someone, right? Anyway, the pattern that I am working with now says to insert darts on the cast-on and cast-off edge. I have googled this topic and searched on youtube, and came up with nothing. How do I do this? The rest of the pattern makes perfect sense, and if I can just get past this one block I'll be well on my way.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I can have this lovely child start on? The best part of this is that I live in NJ and she lives in VA so this will be a long distance tutoring; I will be there one week to get her started.

If you know of any books or projects where she would see progress quickly I would appreciate it. OR if anyone knows of any really good yarn stores in the Alexandria VA area who are patient enough to work with kids I would appreciate the names so after I start she would have somewhere to go for help.

have ever knit in the round. I have never knit in the round on DPN's
because frankly, it just seems too confusing. :) So, here I am knitting
the fantastic holiday lights pattern in the holiday ornament kit from Knit Picks when I
get to the actual lights. Followed the video tutorial on Magic Loop
knitting and thought I knew what I was doing. Well, it would appear
that however I am doing it, the lights appear to be developing inside
out. (I don't know how else to describe it.) See the pictures of the
strand in progres... I am a left handed knitter who learned Continental
knitting. The I-cord looks right (i.e. it looks like stockinette stitch
on the outside) but the lights don't. What am I doing wrong?!?!

I have finally found a peace sign pattern (for a dishcloth). My plan is to follow the pattern and at the end of the pattern...just keep knitting until I have the length I want and do this twice and then stitch the two together in the middle. Otherwise, if I do it in one piece, I will have to reverse the pattern for the 2nd peace sign...Would anyone do this differently? I really wanted to do this in two different colors and have tried and do not think that my skill level is there. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

Knitting on a Round Knifty Knitter loom Newbie question

Hello everyone!

Thanks in advance for your help :-) I'm brand new when it comes to knitting, and decided to try the knifty knitter loom after a friend raved about how fun & easy it was.

My question is this: Because I'm still learning, I'm obviously not very quick. That means the flat panel tube scarf that would take an experienced knitter an hour or so, is taking me a lot longer.

What is the best way to "pause" your work, without everything unraveling, and losing everything I've already done? So far, after my last cast off, I've just wrapped it like crazy over the side peg, and then some more times around several pegs in a twisting/criss-cross method, and praying a lot! Any other suggestions?

Again, thanks for indulging me, and I'm sure I'll have more questions once I'm ready to remove it from the loom and finish it :-)
