I am just trying to learn how to Portugese knit and I thought I might try and make a knitting pin out of a paper clip. If that does not work I guess I will be sock shopping.

Hey that's great. That metal bookmark I had purchased some time ago from Pier One Imports on sale. It somehow ended up in my car glove compartment. I always thought this thing could be useful some day! It's perfect because it already has the crook in it.

When I read this post, I remembered seeing an article in one of my Vogue Knitting mags, so I just searched and pulled up this page with a whole slew of pics of all kinds of different ones. I enjoyed looking at these.

One of these was made similar to metal bookmark I have with beads on one end and other ends is crooked. It would only take a "bending" in the right place to turn into one of these. The magnetc one in purple looks interesting as well. It's round in shape, looks like a button, and another has 3 purple stones set in silver.

I made my own and cheap. I took a picture hook (for hanging pictures on a wall) and slipped it on to a safety pin and voila I have a knitting pin.

I have found that a binder clip (available at office supply stores) works quite well. Pinch the handles until it opens and put your yarn in it. Then you can just open it again and pinch it onto your shirt.

I did not like the pin (not sharp enough and I don't like making holes in my clothes) and while the "around the neck" thing works quite well in winter, it is just awful in the heat of a Mississippi summer.

Andrea Wong haas them on her website - andreawongknits. I learned how to PK and don't use a pin nor do I put my yarn around my neck. It works just fine. Have fun it is a great way to knit since stress on your hands in minimal.

Lurdes, if you do find one, whether or not I buy any of these from the links provided, I would love to buy one from you and pay for shipping. While these are great, one from Portugal would, to me, add a bit of magic to my knitting. Thank you so much Lurdes.
