Im between projects and am trying to fill my time as I wait for my next yarn order to arrive. I'm working on the Hella Hat (Loden size) by Lene Holme Samsoe (Essentially Feminine Knits purchased from Interweave). Everything runs smoothly from row 1 to row 7 where I end with the requisite 70 st. Row 8's directions stump me though. It goes as follows:

Row 7: *K9, p1; rep from * to end. (70 sts)

Row 8: *M1, k3, s2kp, k3, M1, p1; rep from * to end.

By my count row 8 is a multiple of 13 sts which doesn't divide evenly into 70 which is why I end up short stitches in the round. Has anyone had any luck with this? I'd appreciate any help since I can't seem to find anything about it online.

Thanks!

It has great pics/ clear explanations/ knit samples/ + quite a few patts of many types.

socks/ a hat/ gloves/ 2 pillows inc 1 that's a nice rnd cabled bolster/ a yoke sweater in szs + variations for most of the family/ 2 bags/ mittens. Toys inc: a really cute hand puppet....2 versions/ a mouse/ a snake.

A beginner would find something to make + a more experienced knitter would too.

Nice stitch library in the back w/ good pics also. 128 pages

       Take Care ......
I am hoping that Interweave will reprint the book, "Nordic Knitting" by Susanne Pagoldh. I have been trying to source a copy for years! Personally, I would like this classic in a hardback (as opposed to paperback) binding.

Please, please will you reprint?!

If you also would like Interweave to reprint this classic, please register your vote of support!

Thank you.

As for the other portion of my subject line: yes, I know how to convert patterns written for dpns to ML BUT I also teach classes and it is very difficult to find appropriate patterns for students without sitting down and re-writting them which, by the way, may or may not be a violation of copyright so I try writing my own basic paterns. And I really would rather be knitting samples for classes instead of having to write patterns or pattern interpretations for them.

One of the reasons I have not invested in Getting Started Knitting Socks is that I happen to be one of those persons sufficiently afflicted with arthritis that I can't knit with small dpns and all the publicity on this book indicates it is "old fashioned" and uses only dpns. ETA: This question has been answered -- the patterns are for dpns.

2-at-a-time Socks by Melissa Morgan-Oakes is a great example of what I'm talking about for more advanced sock knitters but only features top down patterns. I may use it for beginning students and tell them to ignore the instructions for "sock B" until they are comfortable with sock anatomy and want to knit 2 socks at once.

Am I alone here or have others experienced this frustration?

Alice Starmore Pattern Books on Ebay

I've found three out of print Alice Starmore pattern books on ebay!
