Has anyone helped someone:

1. get started on a new project, or finish an old project (like maybe the more difficult part of a pattern you need help with),

2. help pick out a yarn, or figure out a pattern,

3. or just smiled at someone,

4. opened a door,

5. said thank you,

6. give a break in traffic,

7. make a phone call to someone ill or missed by you,

8. take some cookies to a neighbor, or visit someone who just lost a loved one recently,

9. help someone with their homework, wash a car

10. run an errand, take out the trash, some lawn work, walk the dog, feed the dog, bathe the dog.

Once you start thinking about it the list goes on & on.

Anybody care to add to this? Jot down what you did for someone or what someone did for you, or what you would like someone to do for you to help you out. Just pick up where the last person left off.

what do you like to do?

i enjoy sitting back and relaxing to music or reading a nice book. or i'll hang with my friends. we usually go to the plaza.
I'm thinking about making a wine bottle gift bag for a friend, but I'm a little hesitant because of possible ettiquette violations.

The idea is that the bag is his, and should simply be used to transport wine to a party and possibly to look good while the wine is being presented, but not necessarily be left at the host's house. Is that utterly rude, to bring a bottle of wine in a gift bag and then take the bag home with you again?

To be honest, I've already formed an opinion while typing this - that it should not be considered rude at all, because a knitted bag is a "permanent possession" , sort of like those fabric shopping bags that you buy at various supermarkets.

However, I'd still to get an opinion from you guys, just to see what the general practise is.

Thanks!

Upcoming Gaming News

Have you seen the new video game trailers for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3? How about the new trailer of the upcoming Battlefield Bad Company 3? They're so graphically impressive and beautiful. It will make your eyes shed tears without even noticing it. Aside from the two most anticipated FPS game mentioned above, there are lots of new video games coming out for different platforms this year ranging from RPGs, FPS, Puzzles and Real Time Strategy. In terms of gaming, trailers are necessary given the wide use of internet today and the changing consumer habits. Consumers have become increasingly cautious about the products they're about to purchase that is why different companies have devised ways such that they're product would appear worthy of the consumers money.

Previews or teasers is a must because consumers will demand it. It is the most efficient and effective way of advertising. If the trailer is impressive and appealing to the consumers, it will definitely increase the game's potential sale. Aside from trailers showing the story and content, it also contains gaming news and other information. The trailer will also indicate when will it be released to which platform, system requirements in case it'll be coming out for the PC, as well as surprises such as unlockables and limited editions or special bundles.

Gaming news as well as updates are mostly found on the ending part of the trailers. It will also tell you if there are incoming packs for expansion or fixes in the form of game updates. If there are any delay for the release, some trailers are made specifically for letting the consumers be aware of it.

Most gaming companies have been releasing gaming updates because it has become the trend in the gaming industry. Updates such as expansion packs, especially the case for popular games such as COD, Battlefield, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and many more, are released to please consumers and to even increase the sale of that game. Aside form expansion packs, updates also serve to fix game bugs and glitches. Once again, as a good consumer, it is your duty to watch video game trailers because it will partly determine if the game is worth your money. Watch the latest video game trailers first before purchasing a new game to see what features does the game has to offer. Enjoy the trailers first and then decide if you will buy the product.

I have also noticed that my mom's cats and dogs always seem to gather around her whether she's knitting or sewing, and if possible nap right in the middle of it all. She'll start off in her sewing room all by herself and after an hour or so she's got at least a dog on the floor and 2 cats on the bed sleeping that don't normally go in there. Even my dad has found that one of the cats insists on sitting next to him while he's doing some of his wood carving. They are all usually cuddly and playful but it seems like as soon as you are working on something they need to be there with you no matter what they were doing before that, even if its just to nap on the couch next to you instead of the bed upstairs which is just as comfortable.

Is there some sort of zen-like feeling that we give off when working on our projects that attracts them? Is the noise from the sewing machine or the clicking of the needles comforting in some way? If the commotion of our task interests them so much, then why do they always seem to want to nap in it?

Anyone have any interesting stories or theories?

Why my Mother is Special to Me

Hi All Knitters and Crocheters,

Since tomorrow is Mother's Day I thought I would share with you just one of the reasons my Mom is special to me. Mom started to teach me how to knit when I was about 10 years old. I would spend hours watching her knit. It was facinating! Mom knit the English way and she wanted me to learn how to knit like my father's Mom knit -- the continental way. Out came four dpns and some red wool. She cast the stitches on the needles and proceded to teach me how to knit a pair of socks.

Sometimes there would be a mistake in my knitting and I would take it to her. Very patiently she would time and time again find the dropped stitch and fix it. Sometimes when she didnt know I was watching her, she would pick up my knitting and look through it. Then I would see her smile that pleased motherly type of smile.

We moved to a new town before I could finish the second sock. And the project got lost and a few years later I found the one lonely sock. I still have that sock and I am very proud of it and my Mom who started me out on the great knitting adventure!! Years later she taught me how to crochet.

Today I can knit both the English way and the continental way. The continental way is my prefered way to knit. What do I love to knit today fourty years later?? Why a pair of socks of course!

Happy knitting, Zoë

Yarn Bowls

My mother is an avid knitter but also a professional potter. Nature was very kind, the wind died down and the 2 days of dead calm let the firefighters get it under control. It's pretty well out now. The other big one is on the west slope of Mt. Adams and the smoke from that one is circling around in the valley where I live. I don't know what the progress of that one is. Fortunately there is an entire mountain between the fire and us. Even so, I still have several knitting bags packed and ready to grab if necessary. First on the list is all my needles, including straights, DP's and interchangeables. I didn't realize how many sets I had. I also grabbed both of my Ann Budd basic pattern books as well as my 2 interweave lace knitting books that are no longer in print and my 3 book harmony guide to knitting and a few new magazines that I had just purchased. I grabbed a couple projects I was finishing as well as some newly purchased lace wt yarn for some designs I was working on and the finished shawl with the pattern went into my laptop computer bag. I figured most everything else could be replaced fairly easy. Still it was a hard decision to make. I hope I don't have to do it again any time soon. So now I am back in the group.

At the time of its introduction in late 2007, it was noted for its combination of a light weight, Linux operating system, solid-state drive and relatively low cost. Newer models have added the option of Windows operating system and traditional hard disk drives.

As you can see, forgetting password is a common problem. Here I would like to show you how to retrieve Asus password.

Occasionally, you can remember it again as you just forget it temporarily. If failed, then check if there are any other admin accounts on your pc and you can still access to these accounts. Generally speaking, each user has more than one admin account . If not, please skip the following directions. If there's, just do as below:

1. Log into that admin account.
2. Press Windows +R to bring up the Run box and then enter "control userpasswords2" on it and click Ok.
3. On the coming User Accounts window, select the user account you want to reset password of and click Reset Passwords button.
4. Enter a new password for the target user account, and then type the password again to confirm it, press Ok button.
5. Click Ok button on the User Account window to save and finish your perations.

If there is no accessible admin account, additional applications are needed in this case. Try to use Windows Password Recovery Tool.

Step 1. Download Windows Password Recovery Tool(free trial).
Step 2. Install and run it.
Step 3. Create a password reset disk. A CD/DVD disk, or a USB Flash Disk, depend on the locked ASUS PC's support.
Step 4. Boot the locked ASUS computer from the password reset disk.
Step 5. On the password recovery Windows, select the user account that you forget its logon password, click "reset" button.
Step 6. Confirm you action, then that user's password will be removed.
Step 7. Disconnect the password reset disk, and reboot your ASUS computer. You will access Windows OS without password ( blank password ).

This mentioned will do favor for ASUS pc users when they lost windows password. More time will be saved with this way when comes to retrieve windows password.
At last, Get away from the troubles of forgetting ASUS PC Password. You can create a ASUS Eee Pad password reset disk before you lost password.

Printer problem

I have been trying to print the free e-booklet, Knitting Techniques for More Successful Knitting, and the pages print very faintly. So faint that it's almost impossible to read. I've adjusted ink density in my printer but to no avail. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, is it fixable? Thanks, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Friends

I an in the middle of a big fight with my beat friend.
