Has anyone recently experienced that particularly excellent feeling one gets when a project is finished?

What project have you been doing recently, and how long did it take to complete?

If not, how close are you to finishing?

What project do you anticipate putting the finishing touches to this summer?

    hopefully for a long while.

If anyone cares to read the story of how it began; here it is. If not, just skip to next page.

Well, sometime ago I asked Yogama if she would be interested in doing a kal on the Ruffle and Pleat Skirt Pattern offered here on KD by interweave. For various reasons the idea was put on hold. Recently, I saw a pattern Merlich shared with us that she was thinking of doing from an issue of Vogue. While I viewed her possible project on the VK360 I saw this Racerback Top and suggested it to Merlich. She loved it and decided to switch, bought her yarn and started working up her swatch gauges. I say ,she was really on the ball! So when Merlich mentioned the idea of doing a kal on this top, I immediately thought of our (Yogama & myself) past attempts at a skirt kal , put out the invitation again to Yogama, and this time it looked like it will be a “go”. We also invited Mary, Wendy and invited all kd’s knitters who might like to do this top.

Hopefully more will join. It's a Racer Back Top but there is no race to finish it! So no pressure to finish by a certain date. I have noticed on some of the kals that a knitter has decided to do the project long after the kal is completed. So since there not a completion date, anyone can feel free to hop in without pressure to finish "on time". It's just going to be a fun thing to do. Hopefully learning from one another will be the thing, and the reward is having a Racer Back Top to wear or give as a gift! I hope that Lisa Hoffman will be happy that we wanted to knit her beautiful top. Thank you KD for this site. Merlich, Yogama & I don't know when we have enjoyed a knitting website more than this one!

You knit the rib as normal and than the rest of the sweater is knitted on 15 stitches at a time and I think 15 rows which forms a lovely shell pattern you then picked up 15 stitches from the shell pattern knit these 15 stitches and 15 rows and continue in this maner for rest of Sweater.

The sweater was round neck ,long sleaves I think it was on a leaflet and the colour was yellow

That is about all the information I can remember except it was gorgeous when finished

Would really appreciate it if someone has this pattern

SO HERE IS A POSSIBLE STARTING PLACE IF WE DO DECIDE TO DO . I thought it would be good to put up the link to pattern for reference so if anyone else wants to see !

ZassZ:

Hi Sharon,

I was looking for skirt patterns. I found this http://www.knittingdaily.com/media/p/28940.aspx. Really fell in love with this one.

Am trying my lys guy to see if he can get me the /Algarve - yeah more 100% cotton and it's done on circulars, my favs. Called interweave for info on Summer 2009 issue for this pattern instead of just buying the one pattern for 5.99, the one issue is 9.99 but only in downoad. They offer all 4 issues for the year on cd which I prefer. I don't want to download an issue. This way I can just run on computer without having to download and get all 4 for $19.99. What do you think - a good deal?

I like the color it's shown in but also considering a pretty powder blue maybe. You know I have to run this by you to see what you think. haha Let me know.

I put this up in case we choose it. If not, can just delete. My color card for the Algarve should be in mail tomorrow. If I like the yarn I'll pick color, if not I may go with the Tahki Cotton.

yogama:

hi zass,

i am so excited for you! all these wonderful colors to choose from!

i think we should have our own kal! what a great idea. let's start tossing out suggestions? like maybe your pleated skirt? fun! fun! must dash now. list of things to do before h starts bugging me to get in the car! have a fun weekend! xox

I have knitted my sweater bottom up- i've knitted the torso, and sleeves together which is called the yoke? ( I knitted this on circular needles ) And I am having trouble understanding how to work my yoke and shaping my neckline at the same time. I learned these steps by watching knitpick's lessons on How to Knit a Sweater and looking at the pdf file. On the pdf file it says that I have to knit flat on the yoke/neckline but how would I transfer my stitches from circular needle to straight needle since i'm assuming knitting flat means knitting on straight needles. Also in the pdf file ( since I am working a crewneck neckline ) it says that I have to BO (bindoff) the center on a plain round with no yoke shaping- on each subsequent RS row, decrease 1 stitch on either sind of the BO, but at the same time it says to work the yoke and neckline at the same time. How would I BO the center on a plain round with NO YOKE SHAPING and work the yoke? And what does it mean by on each subsequent RS row, decrease 1 stitch? What is a subsequent RS row? I am doing this with circular needles. Please help, I am very confused. And i've asked knitpicks but this tutorial was about 2 years ago so they could not reply. So if you could, I would very apprectiate it. Thank you so much.
