Pattern to knit socks in childrens sizes

I've been knitting socks, and now my granddaughter, age 4, wants me to knit her a pair.  Her foot measures 7" long and 3.25" wide at the widest part.  I think the small adult size would be too big.  I want a simple pattern, as I still consider myself a beginner.

There is a great easy pattern in "Favorite Socks: 25 Timeless Designs from Interweave" - page 29  Pricilla's Dream Socks by Pricilla Gibson-Roberts. The pattern has sizes for almost all feet from children's to men's large. (You can sometimes get knitting books at your local library if you do not want to purchase them.)
