My son has been after me for years to knit him an afghan. I would like some yarn sugggestions for a washable wool that is soft and cozy but can withstand frequent washing. He is 23 and pizza, cheetos and beer seem to be some of his major food groups!

You want to look for wool that is SuperWash. Any will do.

Brown Sheep has some nice wool yarn that is SuperWash. It's wool that either has been treated or streatched so it will not felt in the wash. I used some for a scarf for my son (age 5) and he loves it. It's warm, wool (will insulate when wet) and will not felt.

You'll find it at yarn shops, not at Michaels or Ben Franklins or the like.
