Which sock knitting pattern should we knit?

The border socks would be fun, but what about a knit along that breaks down sock making into its basic components and show how to do it from both the top down and toe up methods?  You could have a basic sock knit along that also shows how they are done on either DP needles or circular needles.  The circular one has me slightly baffled and that's hard to do, baffle me.  I figure out stitches and methods quickly.

My first preference is the Aran Isle slippers.  My second preference is the Caret + Chevron socks.  I would be delighted to knit either pattern.
