So I have recently been obsessed with knitting, and now I'm starting to work beyond the knit and purl stitch and getting into patterns. I haven't had that much trouble except with my yo, which never seems to leave the right amount of space, but this pattern has stumped me. Every time I do this, and redo it, I can't seem to get it, the numbers are off and I can't tell if I'm doing something wrong or the pattern is wrong. This is how the first three lines read:

Cast on 25 sts.

1st row: sl 1, k15, (k2tog, yo twice) twice, p2tog, k1, yo, k2.

2nd row: k4, yo twice, p2tog, k2, p1, k15, turn, leaving 2 sts unworked

I keep getting one extra stitch. What am I doing wrong?!

Thanks for any help!

i tried it out and the stitch count for the pattern works out correctly. You may need to be careful at the double yarn overs that you're not coming over the needle a third time, giving you the extra stitch. The pattern deals with each loop of the double yarn over on row two by making one loop a purl and one a knit. If you find an extra loop (a third loop over the needle) drop it off the needle and go on to the next stitch.
