I'm knitting a top down raglan sweater. I just put my first set of sleeve stitches on the stitch holder, next I have to cast on 8 stitches and join. I'm using circular needles, my yarn is on my right needle. What is the best way to add stitches?
When I add a number of stitches during my work, I use the two needle method to cast on the stitches. I during my work around to do this then back again after casting on.
For 8sts, a cast on like the knit or cable cast on works well. Take the needle in your right hand that has the yarn coming off the tip and switch it to your left hand. Cast on the sts and then switch the needle back to your right hand and continue knitting in the round. This link shows the cast ons about halfway down the page, in case you needl to see them done.
