hi zass and merlich,
oh no! i'm so sorry you have a mistake merlich. it is frustrating to count stitches and find your mistake. good luck with that! hoping its corrected soon and then you can relax and knit again!
and zass i liked your idea of adding on an extra edging before you started chart 2. sorry to hear you are not liking it. maybe once you are done you will decide you like it again? it really does sounds so pretty.
i was worried about how mine was coming along. it looked a little bunched up the way the pattern was coming out. it bothered me and i kept pulling it down and worrying how it would like. last night i decided to wet it and block it. oh it looks so nice! all those lumps and bumps smooth out and it is a really pretty finished product. now to get knitting again - calmly this time!
i am jealous of your warm weather, but it will start warming here next month. another big snow storm coming, but hopefuly to the south of us. going to hit washington dc, but not us. fingers crossed! i love the seasons, but am so ready for spring!
enjoy your day! xox
I've found what I did wrong: I knitted twice the same row. I just ripped stitch by stitch until I got the place where it was correct. Fortunately, nothing huge.
And, yes my swatches of charts 2 & 3 also bunched up. At the end of the instructions it says we have to block pieces lightly to measurements before join the shoulders.
I wish I could send you part of the heat we have here. But, soon will be with you. Time runs and when you notice, warm weather will be where you live.
Enjoy your knitting!!
Patience, persistence and love are the main ingredients for wonderful knittings.
that is good news merlich! fortunately you found your error without too much trouble. hate that! trying to figure out a lace pattern error!
you're off and knitting now!
Thank you. Yes, fortunately was easy to find the mistake. I'll try to dedicate more time to knitting tonight in order to have a real progress.
Glad that was just an easy one to track down. I'll let you know tomorrow if I can get any more done tonight on mine.
And all the women who were wise of heart spun with their hands, and they kept bringing as yarn the blue thread and the wool dyed reddish purple, the coccus scarlet material and the fine linen. Ex. 35:25
Of course!! I know you can.
Send you lots of XOXOXO!!!
good morning ladies!
i finally finished both the lacey knee socks and the ankle socks i was working on. lacey for son's gf and ankle for son. of course i didnt take pics, but son's gf said she was wearing them to work today and would take pics for me, and also show me how to get thim in here. i can get them into emails, but not these posts. so, progress here on all fronts.
this moring i started knitting on our kal again. i was off track for a few days with some mending and finishing socks. hoping to make some progress now too. loving my color and the pattern.
snow/rain here today. not too cold though, so it wont stick. the wind was howling last night, a little scary after sandy hit us, but it wasn't too bad. we're fine here, but beach towns north and south of us are flooded again. dont know how you can live like that, but they are used to it.
I am very happy for you!! Congratulations!! We are looking forward to seeing both pair of socks and stockings. I don't have that mag so, I can't imagine but eyelets. You've told us they are beautiful, that is very good!!
Good you are back again with our kal. Have you noticed the back and the front have different measurements? I didn't, hahaha! As I am knitting in the round I'll have to figure out how to mend that issue when I get to the top of the front, no way! I took as reference the back.
Sorry about the weather. Take care, we don't want you to catch a cold. Here the wind howls too. The old trees are already down in previous wind storms, anyhow the sound is unpleasant. I've seen reports where people who leave close to the beach are planning the next house after being paid for the insurance company, it was from Malibu. I am glad you are ok!!
How are you today? Could you knit all you wanted last night? I hope you did!!
How was your day? I wish you had a relaxing day and you could make a lot of progress in our kal! Eggplant is a very lovely colour. Your Racer will be very beautiful!!
Don't forget I am ready to help you anytime you need, FEEL FREE TO DO IT!
I am reading here your socks are done and she wore them to work. How did she like them? Oh please have her show you the technique for getting those pics in here. Now that's a future d-i-l for you! ha ha. Now we'll be getting lots of pics
I hope it will be as you say. I wanted to knit last night and I did a little. So now is going along well. It rained buckets during the night and again rain today. Good day to put dinner in the oven and do a little laundry, and a manicure done and then relax with knitting.
I also saw the story about people at the beachfront property in southern states losing all, then insurance pays them to rebuild so it costs very little to recoup.
The eggplant is pretty, but at the same time it's not a "light" color. So I have to make sure I'm in good light when knitting. I thnk your blue and Sharon's blue are really pretty. I got an email in today from KD re the subject of layering. I was talking to Sharon & you about that awhile ago. It is something we have to do here. It can very hot, then inside a/c blasting and you get cold. or you may live in one area, drive to do errands and the micro climates here keeps us constantly adjusting and that demands for you be prepared to get cooler or hotter. So then we put on, take off, etc. I'm sure it's like that in other area of the world as well. My friends look at me sometimes and say, you are bundled up! I say you wish you were too when the A/C starts up.
Merlich, hope you'll tell me what to do when you get to the point you mentioned re the adjustment. How is it coming along for you now?
And Sharon, I read you really love this pattern too.
How did you do yesterday? I hope you did well. Could you make any progress on our kal? What about that huge storm? It is good it rains but not in such a way. I enjoy when it rains calmly, but when it rains like buckets I am worried about all the peolple who are outdoors in their cars driving to their work places or to school, or wherever they need to go, It turns dangerous. Some times they stuck in the traffic jam between the rain and helpless to do anything else. I hope you are feeling well and don't affects you that constant changes of temperatuture. Lately, we are having a scarf with us everywhere. It is easy to carry, not that bulky like a sweater.
There is a little supermarket I use to go where you see all the costumers and empleyees wearing winter items no matter which season we are. They always have the a/c very high and if you go in with light clothes, you start shivering in a few minutes. We all know it is a must to wear, at least, a sweater. When we are standing in the line of the bakery, the deli or at the cash register, we costumers see each other with a smile and complaining about the a/c. It is funny!
About your knitting. There are magnifiers with led lights that are very uselful for this matter. They don't spend a lot of energy. Why don't you find out. The "Mighty Bright", for example. That way, you could enjoy your knitting much better as you would have no trouble to see your stitches, no matter the yarn is in dark or light colours! If it is day time and the light that comes from the outside is ok, you don't even need to turn the lights on. You just use the magnifier.
I've been thinking about when we get to the top part of the front. We may need to make a template and make our decreases overlapping our knitting over it. Well, I guess in mine, as the number of stitches is not the same number as in the instructions. It is the easiest way to work without messing up your brain, and your knitting! Let's not worry about that right now. I'll be thinking what to do. Did you take into consideration the dimensions of the back and the front, I mean, the number of stitches for the back is different as for the front?
If you need me, look for me in my mail. I don't know why the alert doesn't sound when I receive notifications from here.
Have a nice weekend!
Enjoy your knitting!!
Hi Merlich & Sharon,
Yes I did work on my top over the past week. However, not much on this week end. I had to go with my h for Sat. & Sun. so we were really busy week end. Now I am trying to rest up because the week end was tiring. The storm came and we had rain as predicted for a couple days then it turned nice sooner than we thought. So the rest of the last week was beautiful weather and it is still continuing for the rest of this week too. I see alot of convertible tops down.
That is a good idea for the Mighty Bright. In fact, I think I already have one in my closet. I do remember buying one some time ago and then putting it away. I forgot all about it. Thanks for reminding me
How are you progressing? Hope you both had a good week end. .
good morning zass and merlich,
we are having a rainy day today, which is fine with me. had a very fun weekend, but caught a cold so i am babying myself. have to slog through paperwork in my office this morning, but this afternoon i have planned to snuggle on the couch with 2 pups, something good in tv, cup of tea and our kal. hoping to make some good progress.
i could tell my brain was not working right end of last week. i got to the armholes on the front and started the decreasing, then second guessed myself and ripped it out, redid it and then thought of a better way and ripped it out again. of course my way was not better and didnt work, so i reknit it again. phew! i put it down after that and said i needed a break to clear my head! have not picked it up again because of the cold. cant complain though. i have not had one in years, i am generally very healthy.
so i am interested in what you are saying about changing the pattern for the front? since you are both knitting in the round? i am not having whatever problem you are.
good luck with that might bright zass. makes perfect sense with darker yarn. i know just what you mean about not seeing the stitches clearly.
good news, son and new fiancee are coming to visit this weekend from virginia. cant wait to congratualte them in person and see the ring. he did send me pics online, but that is not the same! she loves the ring, so that is important!
So glad your enjoying your rainy time day. Hope your cold doesn't get you down too long. oooh - my goodness it was the same with me when I went thru my brain storm idea! so funny - but it's ok, we learn that way, at least I do. I am still trying to catch up because of that.
I know you are sooo excited about the engagement and rightly so. I can't believe we are having this experience at the same time - wow! ! ! I send my congrats to them too all the way from sunny LA. I am going to go knit a little now & watch a movie [Charade: Carey Grant, Audrey Hepburn, Walter Matthau, James Coburn, Music by Henry Mancini, Audrey's clothes by Givenchy]; and relax from my project of hanging curtains this morning. I don't have to do dinner, hub brought Italian from the restaurant. What a break. ha ha xoxoxox
Sorry you caught a cold! Good you are babying yourself! Hope you get well soon!
Well, about knitting in the round. We are not already in trouble. We guess we may get into trouble. We are on that. We hope it is just guessing. We'll let you know our progress in that matter. However, we are not in that part yet! In my case, I am, again, ripping stitch by stitch because I skipped an s2kp two rows below. I tried to fix it but the yarn was too loose and didn't look good, that's why I decided to rip out those rows. I got distracted watching 'Downton Abbey', haha!
I am very happy your son and his fiancée will be with you!! I am so excited too! Those moments are so beautiful and you always remember them as if they were endless. Love is a wonderful feeling!! Congratulations for you all!!
