If I have a knitting pattern that requires me to use Rico Design Creative Galaxy Chunky (71% acrylic, 21% new wool 2% sequins) wool. How would i know how to supplement this wool for another- do i go by the wool mixture, or weight, etc????? Im struggling to find this wool at a reasonable price (£6.50 a 100g ball- my pattern requires 6 balls). I know I should perhaps buy a ball at a time- but im curious about using an alternative
thanks

Look for a yarn that will give you the gauge called for in your pattern or something quite close. Yes, if you can find a similar composition, that's all to the good. It will come closer to the drape that you see in the pattern. The sequins may be harder to come by though. For that you may have to go to the original yarn..
Here is an extensive article on substituting yarns. There are lots of pictures that show how great or small a difference your yarn choice can make. I hope that this adds to the help which you've received!
