Turning heel on sock

Hi i am doing easy peasy sock and i having trouble with turning the heel can i do different heel turn? I tried and still

having problem when i do ssk when i try to take off needles to knit it tight and hard to get off needles? So i took some rows out ttry again. Any suggestions.

i am doing it on dpn i thinking of doing it on circular needles doing magic loop might be better? Thanks Lindasade

You can certainly substitute another heel if you'd like. It's better not to knit the ssk too tightly, especially if it makes it hard to knit into on the next row. You could try the improved ssk (slip one knitwise, slip one purlwise, knit together into the back loop) and see if that works better.
