I am a new member of knitting daily.  I am so happy I found this site.  I think this will be a major help for me.

I am a retired medical transcriptionist and I am bored to death with retirement - lol.  Knitting is my passion and that is how I spend most of my time.  I look for patterns, etc. on the internet.

I have a question about selling the things I make.  I know there are a lot of designers that do not want you to sell anything made from their patterns.  Can anyone fill me in on how safe it would be for me to send finished projects to Etsy to sell.  I can not design myself but really wish I could.  I of course do not want to get into trouble selling my    finished projects.  I would appreciate any help and assurance it is safe in this matter.  With the economy in the shape it is in, Social Security really is not enough to live on.  My insurance premiums take about half my Social Security check so I could use the money to buy yarn and other things I need.

Thank you for letting me ramble on.  I will be looking forward to your responses.

Happy knitting!

Hi Joann,

Happy for you having more time to knit now.  In answer to your post, I would suggest you really read Etsy guidelines.  It is best if you sell there, that you comply with their rules & regulations, etc.  That way there is no overstepping boundaries on their website.

Nice to meet you and I hope you'll soon be posting back here as well.  What types of articles do you enjoy knitting?

And all the women who were wise of heart spun with their hands, and they kept bringing as yarn the blue thread and the wool dyed reddish purple, the coccus scarlet material and the fine linen.   Ex. 35:25

Hi ZassZ,

Thank you for your reply.  I am enjoying Knitting Daily thoroughly.  I don't know if I will ever by able to remember where I go in it to find what I want - lol.  I am just spending a lot of time browsing through.

I have been knitting for approximately 45-50 years.  I have made a world of sweaters and gave them all away.  Now I am knitting dish cloths.  I belong to a KAL making 2 cloths a month.  I have given all of them away for gifts too.  My sister was a knitter and she passed away a year or 2 ago.  She knit dish cloths for her 2 daughters with every pattern we got.  We talked to each other every week-end (we live about 8 hours away from them and didn't get to visit very often).  Her daughters asked me if there was something of their mother's that I would like to have.  Since retiring, I don't know extra money to buy yarn so I told them if she had yarn or other crafts and didn't have anyone to share them with, I asked them to send it to me.  I had to go out of town to see my retina specialist and when we got home there were 2 humongous boxes on my back porch.  There were full of yarn.

I am also doing scarves now which I enjoy.  I have also thought about knitting for a charity but I don't know how to go about that.  Now that I am in Etsy, I hope I can sell some of my articles and have a little extra money.

I have crocheted outfits for vintage type dolls.  I am thinking about selling the 2 that I have but have no idea what to charge for them.  There are crocheted using cotton crochet thread and they took my quite a long time to make them.

Thank you again for your response.
