I'm knitting the Petal Halter pattern in Interweave Knits Spring 2009. My petals have too many rows of stockinette stitch where the garter stitch edge is at the cast on point - which is the side "seam" section of the petal piece. I can't figure out how to get that cast on section to follow the garter stitch edge pattern. Any thoughts?
hmm, I guess no one has any ideas about this cast on method or this pattern. I'm hoping the workshop on the site will be helpful.
It's not a pattern I plan on making, but I have just given the pattern a quick read. I think the extra row of stockinette in the garter might be the result of the Eastern caston. I'd try using Judy's magic cast on instead, it's the same general principle but for me it works up tigther and more seamlessly for this sort of application. If that doesn't work then maybe work the garter in the second band as purls?
Thanks for the tips. I'm going to try a different cast on.
