Hi,
I'm Laura. I've been knitting for about 5 or 6 years. The first thing I ever knit was a sweater for my daughter when she was a baby 20 years ago. It's a wonder I ever finished it because it was definitely not a beginner project. It was a wrap style sweater using four pastel colors in an Argyle pattern. It turned out beautifully, and both of my daughters wore it. The first baby was a quiet, peaceful child who would allow me to knit even when she was on my lap. The second child was loud and rambuntious, demanding all of my energy so I put away the knitting until a few years ago. When I saw a book on sock-knitting, I was hooked. I'm also into spinning, weaving, sewing and quilting. Thanks for the KD website. I've downloaded lots of the free patterns and ordered some things, too. I really appreciate that KD has some patterns that are more traditional yet not old-fashioned. I've noticed that in all types of fashion, there seems to be a trend to make everything as unflattering as possible to the wearer. While I knit partly for the pleasure of knitting, I also like to make things to wear. I want patterns that aren't too trendy because trendy means it's yesterday's style before it comes off the needles. A hat or a scarf or socks can be trendy, but if I'm buying expensive yarn to make a sweater, I'd like to be able to wear it for a few years, not for one season.
