I've had this pattern for a long time and I am looking forward to knitting it! What yarns will everyone use? I am looking for merino machine washable wool. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Carol
I love the CPH!! All of you will enjoy knitting and wearing it. I learned to knit in September and I was knitting away on the CPH in December!!! And it looks good! I did mine in Tahki's Donegal tweed obsidian (a dark grey/brown).
Good luck and I will keep watching to hear how everyone is doing.
I am so happy about this KAL. I had gotten the pattern and Malabrigo Worsted Merino yarn to knit this with. Here is my dilemma. I have been swatching the past week to try and match the gauge. I have been losing weight, my bust size is now 49", but I am making the 48" sweater so I need to be 17sts/4". I have swatched using #6,7,8,9 & 10. I am getting 18 sts/row on #10 needles. I don't like how loose the knitting is though. I prefer the gauge on the #9 is just about 19 sts/4". How can I adjust the pattern using this gauge? Can I add a few stitches to make up for the tighter gauge?

I'm so very happy that the CPH is the KAL!!!! It's my first KAL with Knitting Daily, and I've been wanting to do this pattern for a while. My BF helped me pick out the yarn for it, and it's just been sitting on the shelf. Now I finally have the motivation to start it!!!
Hi! I have never done a KAL before but it sounds like fun. I love the CPH so I am going to do it. I will be going to my lys tomorrow to get some yarn to use. Question: Do cables show up better in lighter or darker colors? Thanks! Mickey
I'm in, too!
I chose Cascade 220 Heathers in a light green/blue color. I'm not sure I'll be able to finish the CPH by October (it's a shame that my job interferes with my personal life!), but I'll give it a go!
I may start swatching tonight.
All I can think to say is............WHOOO HOO!! First thinkg I will do is set aside time to swatch this weekend. I do believe I am as HAPPY tas Kathleen that CPH was chosen.

I love this pattern and I want to do it for my partner for Christmas. She likes lightwt things. I have this beatuiful baby bee hushabye solid in baby sage. So soft, was able to get gauge w/size 9 needles instead of 8. I'm hoping I can do this in secret and suprise her. The KAL for the CPH looks like fun.
Hi Everyone, I'm In!! I am a yarn rep. So many hours on the road traveling from one yarn shop to another I never get a chance to knit anymore unless I'm making samples. But I'm going to do it. I have some wonderful dark brown merino cross that I spun in a light worested just waiting for the right sweater. I've seen this sweater made up and it's great. Good luck everyone, this has got to be a good way to make me get a project finished. Norma
As I said in another unofficial post...... I'm in!!!! My first KAL !!!!! I have 17 skeins of Kathmandu Aran in my stash that I got on sale just waiting for the right project and this is it. Good Luck to everyone, I'm off to swatch!

I'm in too. I have been wanting to make this sweater for a while now but thought it was a bit too ambitious and I'd lose momentum. I plan to find yarn (different brands here in the Land Down Under) this weekend and swatch - not my favourite pastime! However, I'm determined to do it right and not guess at the tension and fit. Looking forward to meeting you all - I'm very glad to come aboard.

I am going to try and be in too, although I have FAR too many projects on the needles right now. I have wanted to do this for awhile. I have a couple of options for yarn in my stash but it depends on which of them comes closest to the gauge. I'll have to play a bit. I have a LOT of a natural worsted weight that would look lovely, but may be too heavy of a yarn for the gauge, so I will be looking to modify the pattern to suit the gauge I get with the yarn I think best shows off the cable. I am large busted so it may be a challenge./ Never heard the answerof how much ease there is in the pattern, but maybe its shown in the pattern itself.
So I will swatch this weekend and make a decision. I will start if I can get this myster shawl completed...or the socks....of the scarf... or the cardigan. You know the problem

I've got a head start on this one, have the back done up to forming the armholes. Using a lovely merino wash in shades of burgundy, forgot who made it! Joining in to make sure it gets finished!
I started knitting this one when I weighed in at over 200 poiunds, and am NOT making the plus size. Have lost 60 pounds so far and am well on the way to my goal of losing 80. Knitting keeps my fingers busy and away from delicious sticky stuff!

A couple of you have asked me about a schedule; I'm going to think about this and put up a loose schedule next week. For now, let's all get our supplies together and get our swatches done by this coming Tuesday the 18th. Then we can start on the sweater back.
If we need to push beyond October, there's no rule against that!!
Talk to you soon,
Kathleen
Congratulations to Feathersby on the weight loss. I am in the same boat but only lost 22 lbs so far. I have just finished my swatch. On the larger needles and 17 sts. over 24 rows the swatch measures 4" length but only three and a half inches across the 17 sts. Is the swatch supposed to measure 4" length and width?
