Well...

I thought I was doing okay, working on the hood but decided to count the stitches on my needles after I discovered a bit more width to the stitches on the left front.  Turns out that I have 98 stitches on my needle and 32 of them are after the cable on the left front.  I should only have 86 stitches if I am reading correctly.  Not sure where, after the seaming of the shoulders that I went wrong.  Anyone have any ideas?  Help, please!!  Sounds like a frog in my future....

If the sweater fit OK after you did the shoulder seams I would go back to the beginning of the hood and knit some together or increase on the short side so that you have a balanced hood.  If it is within a couple of stitches of the correct amount or the amount you want I would just go with it.  I am not quite sure from your description where the problem is but the overall idea is to have a sweater and hood that are comfortable for you.

I sure hope there is still some people out there working on the KAL.  I read the sleeves wrong to and have just finished them up yesterday.  I have to work this week so don't think I can get it done by Sat.  Work is such a problem.

I'm still working too. I'm doing the sleeves simultaneously, but still have about an inch to go before I begin the shoulder cap. I'm going to block the rest of the garment tonight so it'll be ready for seaming when the sleeves are done. But then I still have to add the edging along the front facing. No way will I be finished by Sat, but I hope not to be too far behind!

I'm still working as well. I caat on both sleeves last night; about done with the cuffs and ready to start the cables. We'll see if I can finish up by the weekend (before NaNoWriMo starts??)

I'm also technically still wrking on my CPH. The back and both fronts are done on mine, but I had to put it aside so that a couple of other projects could get done in time for Thanksgiving, which is when we exchange Christmas gifts with my mom and her husband. And then I have a bunch of gift yarn to spin up before then as well, since my mother-in-law comes very shortly after that. All on top of still creating product to sell for my jewelry/handmade business. Yikes!

But I'm SO looking forward to finishing and wearing my CPH -- the deep forest color is gorgeous and the merino is so soft!

I'm still working on mine too. I had such a great start, but starting working again a few weeks ago. I can't complain, as being unemployed was no good, but I sure do miss the extra time for knitting! Smile

I still have the left side to finish (I'm about 1/2 done) and the two sleeves, plus the blocking, edging, etc. I think I'm going to make a collar instead of the hood. Mainly because I don't think I will have enought yarn. I will wait and see. It's fall here in Wisconsin and I can't wait to wear it!

To all those who are still working on their CPH------DON'T GIVE UP!!!!  It is a great sweater...will probably make another one next year.  So keep working cause it is worth it.  It will quickly become one of your all time favorites!  Good luck and remember to enjoy the journey/process!

I still have lots to do! I've finished the back and only a few rows left on the one front. Still have the other front, sleeves, hood and finishing to do. Mine got set aside to get a start on some Christmas gifting but hope to pick it back up this weekend. I love the sweater and will get lots of wear out of it; nevermind that I haven't made myself anything for years.

Peggy,

The sweater fit fine but the center cable up the back of the hood was going to the right and the hood would have been off in appearance.  I have taken it back to the beginning of the hood and now have it right.  I am meeting with a gentleman this morning so that he can help me with the shoulder seams.  He has been knitting for many years and is a friend to my sister.  Leaving now to knit with him for a bit and will post pictures soon.

Thanks Peggy.

Hi all CPH knitters--

Keep on keepin' on! I just completed mine on Monday night and wore it for the first time today- got a ton of compliments, too! It was such a joy to actually pull it on (even though today was the warmest one we've had in October- go figure!). It is certainly great incentive to get all the holiday knitting done; it may include a CPH vest for my DD as well. Now for my brother's sweater, sister-in-law's cardigan, sister-in-law's hat, and son's (sewn) smoking jacket...oh, yeah, and work, and housecleaning, and jury duty....

Even though I'm not done with my CPH (one sleeve to go, and then the finishing!), I'm thinking about the new KAL. I'm going to do a survey of projects in the Knitting Daily newsletter on 11/6, next Friday. The next KAL will start about a week after that, so keep your eyes peeled.

I'll start a new official thread here.

Stay tuned,

Kathleen

Just FYI, this forum will be available forever! So if you're still working you can keep posting and checking in as needed.
