So just how does a knit along work? Do you get the pattern and just start knitting and post and read as you like, or is it more formal than that?

That's about right, Laura. I'm going to post a loose schedule, too, so we can stay on track as much as possible to finish by the end of October-ish.
Also, please post your comments/questions/whatever to the "official" post for the KAL, which is the first post in the thread.
