Hey girl!
Good for you. We are getting cooler and cooler as the week goes on here. I am ok as it was a little warmer a few weeks ago and I am hoping for a cooler summer. Sunday eve rain was coming as you could really smell it in the air, but only a few drops as the wind drove the clouds west. I am going to take B for his little walk and ride my bike a bit and then do some billing for my h's client. In the back of my mind, I am still looking for some project.
And all the women who were wise of heart spun with their hands, and they kept bringing as yarn the blue thread and the wool dyed reddish purple, the coccus scarlet material and the fine linen. Ex. 35:25
Hi Yogama,
Thanks again for those suggestions re the Vogue.
I remember reading someone's post re searchfor a newsboy cap pattern. I found one which I will post link to.
http://www.berroco.com/exclusives/kap/kap.html It's a free pattern "Newsboy Kap" in a nice color yarn and very stylish. I hope whoever was looking for it will see this link.
Thanks ZassZ! It might have been me asking about this style cap. Always looking for them. I've made a couple of different patterns but never been happy with the look after they are completed. I'll give this one a try when I've completed my shawl.

Hi Linda,
I was hoping I would catch up with you here. I like this hat alot, pretty cute and snazzy looking. How is your hubby coming along this week with his progress.
good morning ladies,
yes thanks zass! such a cute hat. of course i printed and saved. thinking my daughter might like it.
i second what zass said linda - hoping your hubby is mending and improving.
we had a nice weekend here. the weather was good and we actually made it to the beach one afternoon. so nice and relaxing. love the smell! warmer and sticky today though. hope it doens't get too hot as i have agility class for my 2 bostons and they don't do well in hot!
have a nice day and happy knitting!
Last Friday was the last day of antibiotics, so we wait till July 1st and they do some tests to make sure the infection is gone. If he's clean, then they'll do the hip replacement on July 11th. So far the blood work has been coming back clean every week, so that's a good sign. He's pretty much stuck in his recliner as he's not able to get around, even with the walker. When we have a doctor's appointment, I put him in the wheelchair to get to the car and then from the car to the doctor's office. My arms and legs are black and blue from lifting the wheelchair, but I'm surviving. Just sore. After his surgery he'll be having a lot of physical therapy. My mom's been buying groceries every week for us. I can't leave here for more than 20-30 minutes ... a quick run to the drug store as he can't do anything for himself. Thank goodness for knitting and books! My knitting has kept me sane.
Linda B
hi linda,
wow you do have your hands full. sounds like your h is improving a bit though? hoping all continues to be clean so the surgery can be a success. you both will be much happier when he is back to his old self. watch out, he might decide to take up dancing....
i know what you mean about knitting. it does keep us sane and able to cope with what life throws our way. i often say it is my therapy! although i am also addicted to it, so not sure how good that is? other knitters understand....haha! guess we are all a little crazy, but in the kindest, best way?
its so nice your mom is close to you and can help you out. not such a bad job to have someone else take over? if i had one thing to give up, it would be grocery shopping. don't mind cooking and cleaning up, don't mind laundry - all instant gratification type chores.
well keep smiling and keep your spirits up. check in again and let us know how all is going!
Well the 1st of July is just around the corner, so hope all stays good till the 11th. Thanks for writing back and keeping us posted. We all hope for the best and I am sure it will go well as it sounds like the docs are on top of it. Watch your back and that wheel chair, you can really do yourself some damage if not careful. Oh poor arms and legs, I do feel for you. What a nice massage would do for you or maybe even a soak in some epsom salts and warm water or just scented herbal bath?
Take care Linda.
Hi Linda...
I was so sorry to hear about all the troubles you + your husband have been having. Glad to hear though that he seems to be on the mend. I 2nd what Sharon said about people who've had hip/ knee replacements. They do tend to be very pleased with the huge improvement to quality of life. "Good Energy" will be coming your way from me. The odd thing is....you'de been popping into my head for a few days before you posted about all this. I was wondering how things were going for you. And there you were in Loveland (= Interweave + all kinds of other fiber yummy stuff) + I'm sure didn't have a spare moment for yourself. Must have been hard to have to leave him to go back to work too...reality bites sometimes!!!
Hoping the latest tests went well + the surgery can go ahead. He sounds like he's always on the go with his job so boredom will probably be a big incentive to get thru therapy + back to life !!!
Just checked out your knitting album. Nice bag + beautiful colors you used. The one time I tried a felted bag...it shrank well lengthwise + hardly @ all sideways....just like yours. Frustrating. Yours looks useable...mine wasn't. It's "sulking" in the attic.
I noticed that lots of your projects were made w/ handspun yarn. Do you spin? That's the next thing I want to learn. If so...what kind of wheel do you have? I'm collecting "info + opinions" for when the day comes. From a non-spinner's prospective...I like the Ashford Joy wheel right now. I have a subscription to Spin Off magazine + read anything else I come across about spinning. Some day....
Take Care...... Andrea
Andrea,
I used to spin a lot and made all my yarn, but the last few years I haven't done much spinning. However, I have a couple large Rubbermaid tubs full of yarn that I've spun and I used leftovers to make the felted bag. The wheels I have now are hand made by my 1st husband's uncle for me in the 70's and 80's. I have 3 of them. I used to have several wheels over the years. I've had antique wheels and newer Louet, Ashford and a folding Landrum wheel. I don't remember the exact names of the styles, but I have noticed that they've added many styles since then. Of the commercial wheels I've had, the Landrum was my favorite, with the Louet being 2nd. Ashfords are good, but my preference were the other two. Before you buy a wheel, go to a store where they will let you sit and try out different ones. Or find a spinning group near by and ask if the members will let you try to spin on their wheels to see which one suits you best. My problem now is I have too many hobbies and not enough time. So, instead of spinning my yarns, I buy them and spend time knitting. More portable.

Hi LindaB...
Thanks for all your info. How special to have wheels made specially for you!!! I would love to take your advice but there is no shop near here that sells spinning wheels + no spinning group locally that I know of. Rug Hooking is the big "group thing" around here. I have heard of a few spinners locally...but no one I know. And w/ my allergies it's awkward to try + set something up thru a mutual acquaintance. I may get to their house + not be able to go inside. Or worse...have them come to my house + I either get VERY sick in minutes or have to ask them to leave. So I try to do stuff in situations I can leave fast if I need to.
LindaB48:My problem now is I have too many hobbies and not enough time.
I can so relate...but something is just drawing me to learn this!!! I can feel it in my fingers.....
I love the look of traditional/ antique wheels but like the "compactness" of some of the newer ones. That's part what appeals to me about the Ashford Joy. It folds up into the smoothest/ smallest looking pkg when not in use. And that's w/ 3 bobbins + a lazy kate inc. And you can get a dble treadle one which I suspect will be better for me w/ fibromyalgia. Since we are working on downsizing + possibly living in our travel trailer for a bit...."size matters"!!!
I'm looking @ a pic of the Lendrum folding one now but no pic of it actually folded up? There are also pics in this Spin Off magazine of the Schacht Sidekick folding one. Pretty teal colored wheel but it looks more awkward folded up. And I know...pretty colors are not the way to pick one!!! I would love to try some + talk to owners. That's part of why I'm not rushing out to buy one. That + the the $ of course!!!
In the meantime I'm keeping my eyes + ears open for info.
Hope all is still going well w/ your husband? Will he be able to have the surgery close by or will you have to travel?
Thanks again..... Andrea
LindaB48: Orthopedic surgeon will put him in the hospital for emergency hip surgery. Then he'll have a couple months (or more) of therapy to get his strength back and to learn how to use his new hip. Linda B.

Well it's getting close and I keep thinking of you and your husband. Certainly do hope all goes very well for him. Once you get past the surgery and the stay in hospital, I think you will begin to feel a little easier. Keep us posted and will be waiting to hear good news from you.
i second what zass just wrote! hoping all is going smoothly for you both, and sending positive thoughts your way. hope you brought some knitting with you. i'm sure there will be plenty of downtime and you'll need to occupy yourself. plus it is such a stress buster and you need that right now.
yes, please - let us know how you are doing!
I am going to check to see for your answer. I could not find the brasier in the search although I did get to Bergere de France.
