Over 5000 of you voted and the winner is the beautiful Every Way Wrap from the Fall 2009 issue of Interweave Knits. If you don't have the sold-out issue, get the digital download here. This is a pretty big project, so I'm going to do a pretty long schedule (so maybe I can finish this one on time!).July 9-August 25: Swatch and knit wrapAugust 26-Sept 3: Finishing (and post photos!)Sept 3-Forever: Wear your wrap! There is a correction on the chart, available on this page (scroll down--the link is above the two photos at the bottom). This link is also where you can see the specifics of the project. Be sure to also check out the project on Ravelry to see all of the different yarns used.Let's go!Kathleen
I have wanted to make this wrap since it came out in the fall issue. Am so happy it is a knit-a-long as this will push me into making it. Am also graetful for the longer schedule. Thank you Kathleen.

Hi Kathleen,
I voted for this KAL and I have a question for you. When I clicked on the download, the only thing available was to download the entire magazine. I would only like to download the Every Way Wrap. (My computer will not be able to download the entire magazine.) Is it possible for you to make this available for a single download?
I am thinking of making this a red varigated or red striped wrap. What are your colors?
Thanks, Zoe
Hi Zoe!I think the pattern will be in the store soon. I'm waiting on a for-sure date before I put the news out, but it should be in plenty of time for the knit-along. I'll keep you posted here.
I haven't picked my colors yet. I wear a lot of brown, gray, black, and red in the fall and winter, so I'm thinking something in gray, but we'll see. I might go with eggplant! Or maybe something lighter that will show the cable work better. Hmmm.Kathleen
Thanks ever so much. My poor little computer would definitly crash and burn as they say. I will watch for the pattern to come out.
I love the red maple leaves in the fall and I am kind of aiming for that color.

Hi Zoe and Kathleen,
Your red varigated sounds wonderful, Zoe, and the red stripe would be very catching also. And Kathleen, greys are a fav for all this year. They look so warm against snow in the background. Can't wait to see the colors you pick. I would like to use a tweed called Silk Road by Jo Sharpin color 407 Magnolia. The color changes with the different lighting--sometimes it looks like a light grey, sometimes a light green all with little specks to bring it to life. Am hoping The cables will show off well with this color. Won't be swatching til this weekend as I am finishing the sleeves on my cardigan in progress. Have one more day of knitting and then to block & finish. Should be started on my wrap by Monday. Good luck in picking colors and show us all when you decide your actual colors.
So, is this yarn equivalent to 4-ply worsted? I can't get these "fancy" yarns where I live. If I can, I don't know what I'm getting.
Any help with size (3, 4, ?) will be helpful.
Thanks
Denise
I think I will try this shawl. Do you think a bamboo yarn would work on this?
Nancy
I think I shall join along as well! I've wanted to do a KAL, but just didn't get around to it yet, and this sounds great! Don't know what yarn I'll go with yet...
Just sent an inqjuiry on your blog about the next knit-a-long and then saw the post in the Forum that the Every-Way-Wrap was chosen. I'm delighted, as I'm one of those who voted for the wrap. I've actually started the project and now maybe can knit-along and actually finish the project for fall. However, I'm using the chart as originally published, not having been aware of corrections. And I think I'm too far along to have the heart to tink, so maybe I'll just have to complete the work-in-progress and possibly consider making a second one. . . Thanks!

I am making mine out of 100% bamboo. The brand is Ornaghi Filati Bamboo. I am using a cream color. I love how it feels.
Hi Denise,
I believe this chart will help you with knitting yarns and what weights etc. are used. This pattern calles for a worsted weight (#4) also known as aran or afghan yarns. http://www.craftyarncouncil.com/weight.html Bookmark this site as there is so much information on the site (take a look at the left hand side bar). These charts are good for print out too.
An ordinary #4 weight yarn that gives you 16 to 20 stitches per inch using about a 4.5mm needle should do just fine. The composition of the yarn is up to you for comfort. On Ravelry, I looked around at some of the yarns used for this project and some were using a 10 ply yarn. I generally don't go by the number of ply in a yarn because there can be any number of them in a strand of yarn. The weight of the yarn is standard. Good luck with finding your yarns.
Wrapping this every which way! Zoe
Thanks Zoe, that helped. I did mark it so I can refer back to it.
You may want to print off the chart and take it and the pattern to your local yarn store to find your yarn for the project. I know that Wal-mart has these huge yarn skeins and likely 2-3 of these would be enough for the project. I have to wait and see when I can get there myself as I don't have a Wal-mart in my town. I am also waiting to see when Kathleen is going to announce that the pattern is available as a single download.
What color/s are you leaning towards making this in? Zoe
Hi Zoe, thanks for the tip to take the chart to Walmart. We do have one of those. I was going to see if I could find something "different" to work with. Someone earlier mentioned bamboo yarn, and I have seen that at one of the stores, so I think I might look into that. Not sure what color. I usually do something boring, and then wish I had done something brighter. So I was thinking maybe a teal or turquoise? I like purple, but I don't think it would look good in purple. Maybe lavender though? I will have to see what is available in the yarn I like. I'll let you know.
I'm in the process of making another Minimalist cardigan for my mother-in-law. She fell in love with mine. Just finished the back, but she is in no hurry. Actually, she probably forgot she asked me to make it for her!!
