Kathleen,

Do you realize your link on the Knitting Daily page (under your picture) for this new KAL goes to the Everyway Wrap?  I had a heck of a time finding this one.

I have a question for Kathleen:

How is the determination made for whether or not to offer the pattern as a free download for KALs?  I noticed that the Every Way Wrap was offered as a free download (although I was unable to participate) and this project which I would be able to participate is for sale only?

Hi, I just found out that Knittingdaily is an extra service of the patternshop Interweave.

Who makes the Ultra Silk? It sounds like something I might like.

Thanks!

Hi cjprice,

It is listed right on the pattern page -- Berroco makes it.  I will try to see if my edit button works and post the link to their site.

Hi cjprice,

My edit button doesn't work today but here is the site:  http://berroco.com/     They have many amazing helpful things on this site.  Happy time exploring this site and post back as to what yarn you are using!  I am not making this KAL because I have too much going on with my home life but I do check in to see what is going on.  It is very helpful to pick up hints and help from other knitters for future uses!!

Knit on, Zoe Smile

This will be my first sweater and first KAL. I can't wait to get my yarn this weekend. I'm breaking my vow to finish the 10 UFO I have. I think I'll live.

Hi Lisa!

Welcome and I admire your courageous spirit.  Read over the pattern a few times and try to imagine yourself going through the motions.  You can hit You Tube and other sites for videos of different technicques that might seem foreign to you (i.e., M1L, SKP, picking up stitches).  Also, you can reach out to your local yarn shop.  There should be some "pros" that can help you through a difficult spot.  This is my first time interacting with this community, but I believe that if you posted a need for help, someone would be able to help you push on through.

Hi Lisa,

One of the best sites I have found for video tutorials is www.knittinghelp.com   The tutorials are in continental style and in English style knitting.  You click on the one that is for how you knit.  Also www.lionbrand.com  is good although it is only an English style demo.

This is absolutely correct.  There is no problem or question that some knitter has never come across before and will be only too happy to assist you.  This is the great thing about a KAL -- the KAL community of knitters all help each other.

I wouldn't even know how to choose the right yarn!

Hi Lisa,

This is no big deal -- really it isn't!  Take your printed pattern down to your LYS or any store where they sell yarn, and get the sales person to help you out.  They will be only too happy to do so.  Once you get your yarn, you really need to do a swatch or several swatches to insure that you get the right tension as per the pattern.  It is a big project but everyone will help you through it.  A completed project happens only one stitch at a time and you can do it.  Smile

Happy knitting, Zoe

Is there away to find a list of the choices for this KAL.  I voted for another sweater and wanted to get that pattern - cannot remember name of it.  I am still working on Every Way Wrap - not sure if I can start this one.  Thanks for the help.

Here's the link to the blog page where they announced the choices:

If you ever want to find something from a past KD email...click on "Blogs" on the brown bar up near the top of the page here.

Giggle.  I'm frantically knitting my current project to finish and start this KAL!  I do not have ANY UFO's, no guilt.  I'm rethinking my yarn for this KAL, probably going to take the pattern to a few LYS on an upcoming road trip. I'm thinking I want something with a little bit of silk texture mixed with something else, to show off stitch definition well (not too soft).

MarloesD:

Today I bought the pattern. Since I live in the Netherlands, I'm very happy that Knittingdaily has electronic versions of her patterns!

As for the yarn, I choose "Marko" in the colour "8110 Roestbruin" (i.e. rusty brown). First of all because I like it and second because brown is en vogue this season. This yarn is 100 % acrylic and best worked with needle size 3.5 mm. In order to get the right gauge, I'll use 4 mm instead.

Yesterday I forgot to mention this: my size is  35 " or 89 cm bust circumference. Because I use thinner yarn and needles, I'll follow the descriptions of one size bigger.

Thank you for the encouraging words everyone!

I'm still on the fence about the KAL project.  I'm concerned about trying so many new things with such expensive supplies.  I've never even made a swatch for gauge before!  And I've been told I'm quite the tight knitter.

Most of my stash (so far) has been purchased from the big box stores that are close by.  I've discovered that there is a big difference in quality and selection between the LYS and retail craft stores.  The cotton yarn I've picked-up from AC Moore is fine for dishclothes, but as I move onto new things, I need to educate myself on different yarns.  The closest LYS is about 40 minutes from me, but I'm hoping to make a trip there this weekend.

If I take the pattern with, will the LYS be willing to spend some time with me, choosing the right yarn, correct amount and give me an honest answer if the pattern is too difficult for a beginner?

Someone just push me over the edge to try this ...  Confused
