sold out issues of IK

Why aren't very popular  issues of IK that sell out pretty quickly ,given another print run? How can I obtain patterns from sold out issues?

It's actually pretty difficult to reprint magazines. There are contractual issues, the advertisers have only paid for that print run, so they's have to pay more for another run, and on and on.

The biggest reason is probably getting the paper. We order the paper months and months ahead of time, and it takes that long to get it to the printer. If we want to do a reprint, we'd have to do another order of paper that would take months to get here, and by that time...well.

I've been told that reprinting a magazine is much more complicated that it seems!

We are negotating with our designers in order to be able to put these out-of-print patterns into our Knitting Daily Store. There are already quite a few patterns in there, so check it out. We are adding new patterns as fast as we can--sometimes weekly, usually twice a month.
