No I never did find a pattern that was identical to the type I wanted, so ended up purchasing it for my daughter.

i found the exact hat. It was not a pattern. the person bought it from www.Breckenridge Hat Company. Looks like she didn't make it after all, she bought the hat and gloves, them posted that she made it herself.   :(

I have found a few and some with ear flaps. I just googled Sock Monkey Hats, I also googled "hats".  I still haven't located the one that I want, but these will work. Check out all the crochet and knitting sites.

if you cant find this pattern, i think you'll have to check the web for free pattern exactly what your trying to find.

Some site gives some patterns for free....
