I have knitted socks using the magic loop technique and two circular needles. I've knitted two socks at time, toe up and cuff down. Somehow I always end up picking up my double pointed needles and knitting those socks one at a time so that I can enjoy the thrill of turning that heel. I am always searching for new patterns or looking for new ways to change a pattern to make it fit or look better.

You know, I've never been completely happy with heel turns on circs, either--though not enough to pull out my DPNs. I can't ever remember whether I'm working across both heel flaps at once or not, and when the stitches are picked up for the gusset they're not distributed quite evenly. Maybe next time I'll try a hybrid and work just the heels separately on dpns.
