I might leave the bottom button undone just so it doesn't gape

Thanks, Sherry----that's a good idea---gonna try it!  I will definitely use a "cooler" yarn next time!!!Smile

To all my US knitting friends - enjoy your 4th July!  I have so enjoyed the last two KALs and hope the sprout tee gets up so I can do another one! Liz

Katherine - Beautiful finished project.  I love the crocheted ruffles.  I will one day finish my Maple Cardi that I started - I am still trying to figure out what to do without my companion of 54 years.  Your picture is very inspiring as are all the other finished cardigans that I have seen thus far.

Continued happy knitting.

Celia,

XXXXXXXXXX These are my hugs to you---Person  I pray that time will help.  God bless you and comfort you with His awesome love!

Thank you for the compliment on the sweater--all this pales in comparison to lifelong relationships...don't you think?  In time, perhaps you will be again inspired to pick up that project and finish it--it isn't going anywhere--just waiting for you....

Sincerely,

Katherine

I have not been on the computer for 10 days. My husband unexpectedly passed away on May 18th from a heart attack.  We laid him to rest this morning in a beautiful graveside service in Montana.  A new beginning is upon me.  Knitting will fit into the picture as I learn to live a new life without my partner of 48 years.  Celia

Hi GrandmaV,

You may not remember me, but you have written me over the past year or so.  I am the Hats Crazy lady and we did speak a few times in other posts you & I commented on.  I just saw this post and although it was back in May I hope I am not too late to tell you how I wish I could express my support to you.  It is so odd, isn't it, that at times like these, we all somehow sense how hopelessness feels and want to help.  I think it is because of shock, of unexpected loss.  Then when reality sets in, we become painfully aware of the loss.  I know.  All the sentiments are nice, but now we must live every day in a different way we are not used to.  Eventually we do become acustomed do doing things differently and still that doesn't take away the sense of loss.  I understand the frustration, tears, pain.  That pain is normal because death is not a normal part of life, although we have all come to accept it.  That is why it is so upsetting and unsettling.  We want life to go on and we want our loved ones to stay with us forever.  I think you know you will always find support here.  Do you have someone very close to you that you can spend time with?  It will help as I am sure you know, we all need each other in a big way.  Please never hesitate to contact me anytime you like.  I would love to know you better and my heart hurts for you dear.  Maybe you could share some favorite experience with me about knitting in the past days of your knitting experience?  I love to know whatever you may wish to impart.  48 years is a very long time to be able to say two people stay together and you must be very proud of that.  I guess you must have some really good recipes too!

Love,

And all the women who were wise of heart spun with their hands, and they kept bringing as yarn the blue thread and the wool dyed reddish purple, the coccus scarlet material and the fine linen.   Ex. 35:25

Thank you, ZassZ for your kind words of support and love.  It overwhelms me that so many people have embraced me with their prayers, support and love.

Kathleen and others--I now am so inspired by this that I want one too!  I looked at the pattern and am 60 so negative ease is not a concept I embrace.  So what did others do for ease?  I have a 35-36 in. bust and am short short.  But uncertain on this.  Thanks!  Oh, and hard to tell--are those sleeves on the pattern 3/4 or pushed up?  Thanks, Judy in sunny Mpls.

I do not do negative ease well either. According to the patter I should have made the large, I made the 1x (2sizes up. It fits comfortably without pull.

Hi all

Here is my Maple Street finished at last! I procrastinated about the ruffles especially as the yarn I used is a 10ply (I think it is a worsted weight in US terms) and I couldn't find anything finer that matched. In the end I used the same yarn and it worked really well for a winter cardigan. I made it longer and also made the sleeves long. I don't like the higher front neck but it looks fine with a shirt collar. This was my first venture into top-down knitting and I've now got at least three other future top-down projects lined up. The only disadvantage is that it isn't as transportable as piece knitting, but it was nice to be able to try on and also not much sewing up at the end! The camera colour doesnt truly reflect the colour which is an aubergine/dark purple Merino et Soie. Am sitting out the next KAL but hope to knit with some of you in future challenges.  Liz in chilly Canberra Australia

Hi Liz,

I love your MSC!  Beautiful color and it looks great on you.  Maybe I'll add ruffles to mine after all...I'm liking all the ones that have them!  I'm sure you'll get lots of use out of during your chilly winter.  I work for Costco and heard that you're getting a new store opening this month.  I hope you enjoy it too!  BTW, love your buttons, very nice!

I'm also sitting out the next KAL, I'm doing the sock one right now along with some other projects.  Hope to see you in a future one.

Sherry
