Gauge 20 sts and 27 rnds = 4" in rev St st

  1. I have just begun this pattern and I am stumped.

    I so hope you can help.  I am working on this pattern from a magazine, Knitscene.  I have a question about the rolling cast on edge step.  *M1, (insert right needle from front to back into loop on CO edge directly below next st on left needle, sl 1 kwise, insert left needle into fronts of 2 sts on right needle and work them tog (as for ssk), k4]9 times; rep from *7  more times -increasing the CO stitches by 8 stitches.  

    I just cannot wrap my brain around this and I hope you can help me.. I am thinkiing that if this is done you would be making more than 8 stitches. 

    HELP!!!
