Michele Wang Knitted Sweater Collection

I’ve always liked Michele Wang’s knitwear designs, and I had the fortunate opportunity of meeting Michele at The National Needle Arts conference in June. Michele is not only a smart and savvy knitter and designer, she’s also pretty hilarious. During our initial conversation I learned that her parents met in my hometown and got married in the same church my parents did! It’s pretty rare to meet someone who lives in the Big Apple who has ties to the Little Apple (the nickname for my hometown Manhattan, Kansas, aka the corniest joke I can’t get rid of).

Interweave Knits editor Meghan Babin recently put together some of Michele’s top Interweave designs into a pattern collection. The patterns included are the Virginie Pullover from knitscene Fall 2015, the Chevron Cardigan from knit.purl Fall/Winter 2015, and the Diamond Funnelneck from knit.wear Spring/Summer 2014. Each design has a timeless appeal, consistent with Michele’s aesthetic—make all three for wardrobe staples that will be cherished for years.

The Virginie V-neck pullover is knit in Alchemy Kosmos, a silk, mohair, wool, and cotton blend, making it a transitional piece and classic design. The drop shoulders and simple silhouette give it a wearability that enables you to dress it up or down.

The Chevron Cardigan is knit in Quince & Co. Puffin, a super bulky wool. That plus the simple chevron texture pattern makes it a quick knit and super warm staple for fall and winter.

Done in another Quince & Co. yarn, the Diamond Funnelneck is on the elegant side. Three-quarter sleeves, an all-over textured stitch pattern, and the literal funnelneck make this piece perfect for the office as well as events.

  1. I had to laugh at your little Apple comment as I graduated from Kansas State back in the early ’80’s. My husband is from the big apple so we go there a lot and I have the comparisons running in my head during most of our visits the past thirty years. Thanks for the giggle.

  2. I really wish you would give garment specifics; finished measurements, yarn weight, stitch guage, recommended ease. While I love many of the patterns, as a plus size woman, I hesitate to purchase without this information. Thank you.
