This fancy knitted shawl evokes ideas of vintage lace shawls. A provisional cast on, a unique beaded increase, and fringe make this an intriguing shawl to knit.

Yarn Schaefer Yarn Andrea (100% cultivated silk; 1,093 yd [999 m]/100 g):
• chamomile, 2 skeins (about 1,800 yd needed)
Gauge 19 sts and 31 rows = 4" in body patt with 2 strands of yarn held tog, after blocking

• Size 4 (3.5 mm): 40" circular (cir) needle
• Size 12 (1 mm) steel crochet hook (for placing beads)
• Size E/4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook (for attaching fringe)
• 1,728 size 6° glass seed beads (about 145 g)
