Needles Band-size 7 (4.5 mm): 16" circular (cir) and set of double-pointed (dpn). Body-size 8 (5 mm): 16" cir. Lace inset-size 3 (3.25 mm): 24" cir. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Gauge 18 sts and 26 rows = 4" in St st on largest needles with 2 strands of yarn held tog; 24 sts and 38 rows = 4" in Lace Inset patt on smallest needles.

A simply shaped sweater vest is dolled up with a delicate lace inset. Vest is knit in three pieces with the inset worked from the center out.

A classically styled men's vest is dressed up with a sophisticated herringbone pattern. Vest is worked in one piece from the bottom up with an attached I-cord edging and zipper closure.
