PLAITS AND LINKS CARDIGAN

A cropped silhouette livens up a classic cabled cardigan. A wooly, Shetland-style yarn gives definition to Aran styling. Back and fronts are worked separately with raglan shaping.

Finished Size 37¾ (41, 44¾, 48, 51¾)" bust circumference, buttoned, with fronts overlapped about 1½". Cardigan shown measures 37¾".

Yarn Green Mountain Spinnery Wonderfully Woolly (100% New England wool; 250 yards [228 m]/4 oz [115 g]): #7404 lichen 6 (7, 7, 8, 9) skeins.

Needles Neckband and cuffs-size 5 (3.75 mm): 16" circular (cir). Body and sleeves-size 7 (4.5 mm): straight. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions Markers (m); cable needle (cn); stitch holders; tapestry needle; three ⅝" buttons.

Gauge 18 sts and 26 rows = 4" in Seed st on larger needles; 12 sts of Chart A = 2¼ " wide on larger needles; 18 sts of Chart B = 3½" wide on larger needles; 12 sts of Charts C and D = 2" wide on larger needles.

A swingy, criss-cross shape and soft spun yarn whip up into a warm and cozy cardigan. A large cable adds interest to the border. Sweater is knit in pieces with cable added after seaming.

FINISHED SIZE 383⁄4 (44, 48, 531⁄4, 57)" bust circumference, buttoned. Cardigan shown measures 383⁄4".
YARN Classic Elite Yarns Ariosa (90% extrafine merino, 10% cashmere; 87 yd [79 m]/13⁄4 oz [50 g]): #4855 russet, 11 (12, 14, 15, 16) balls.
NEEDLES Size 101⁄2 (6.5 mm): 16" and 29" circulars (cir) and two double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.

The perfect snuggly cardigan for a rainy day. Cardigan is worked back and forth in one piece from the bottom up. Ribbing and a horseshoe cable band are worked after folding into shape.
