Finished Size 38 (42, 47, 51)" bust circumference. Jacket shown measures 38", modeled with 4 1/2" of positive ease.

Yarn Bergère de France Sonora (50% cotton, 50% acrylic; 126 yd [115 m]/1 3/4 oz [50 g]): #22063 écorce, 12 (14, 17, 20) skeins.

Needles Size 7 (4.5 mm): 24" circular (cir) and set of double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions Markers (m); tapestry needle.

Gauge 1 square = 9 1/2" x 9 1/2" (10 1/2" x 10 1/2", 11 3/4" x 11 3/4", 12 3/4" x 12 3/4").

The Abiquiu Tunic consists of sixteen counterpanes, worked from the outside-in and joined, leaving an opening for the head. A bold picot and muddy khaki color complete the sophisticated peasant aesthetic.

I am having a terrible time trying to figure out how to join the squares. I feel like it's completely counter-intuitive. I create new stitches right side facing, but then why I get ready to purl the first round, the wrong side is facing. What am I doing wrong?????
