I was inspired by my partner's friend had just moved to California from Colorado to live with us. When Mark saw one of the hats that Tavis was wearing, he asked if I could make one like that. This hat is similar to Tavis' hat in that it has a brim. The zigzag was Mark's idea after looking through several stitch dictionaries.
While I was designing this beanie, my first several attempts at the zigzag were horrible. I must have done 80 or more swatches in different yarns on different size needles trying to get it just right. Surprisingly, joining the cast on to create the brim was the easiest part.
I learned that I need to write it down. Every time you like what you did, write it down. Every time you hate the way something looks, write it down.
