I finally have the downloading down! I appreciate the free patterns and love to buy knitting magazines and books. When I'm too tired to knit or sew, I can still read! And crochet is not a bad word, it's easy and practical, though overall not as gorgeous and flexible as knitting. Love to make stuff!

I have a Mac, using Firefox, and have absolutely no problems whatsoever downloading anything from your website! I'm a returning knitter to the fold after 20 years away and have started my first lace scarf, so thank you for this free lace pattern book. I feel like a dumb beginner when I knit these complicated lace patterns, but I'm determined to learn! Thanks for the encouragement.

IE7 here and no problems at all in downloading these lovely free patterns. I'm constantly amazed at the amount of advice and generousity of spirit in passing on these patterns. As I'm llving in the UK, sometimes there is a small problem with finding substitute yarns but usually overcome with a quick rummage on Ebay or Google search to find a supplier. Plus I spin a lot a lot of my yarn but have always been able to come up with one of your patterns to fit my wildly varying swatches. Very many thanks for your kindness in publishing your freebies and for the friendly advice.

Thank you so much for these lace patterns. I have just finished knitting 2 pair of lace fingerless gloves and was thinking of doing another pair. I think I'll try the pattern included herewith. Maybe this pair for the bride--I'll make them longer on the forearm than i have for the bridesmaids. (Also, i had no trouble with downloading using Firefox; I am sorry that some do, however).

Make sure that you have the latest version of Adobe Reader installed in your computer before you download these patterns. You can get the latest version here: I hear there is also a work in progress to make sure that the printing of page 20 works correctly. Hopefully there will be an update to that very soon. For the readers who are having problems keeping logged on, try clicking the "remember me" box right below your username and password before you click "Sign in". As long as your computer is set up to remember cookies, and not erase your internet browsing history each time you close your broswer, then you should be able to simply open up to and be automatically logged in each time. It works for me, so I know it will work for you all! Free patterns really are great, especially when they come from Sandi!!

It's not the first time this happens but it usually allows me to save the document and then when I open it it's fine, not this time, it's corrupted according to Firefox.... Thanks for these offers, I'm sad I'm unable to download them.

About those users who have trouble with downloads - when was the last time you updated your Adobe? Just go to and download the latest version of Adobe Reader for free. I use both Mac & Vista (on my laptop) to download and have no problems - I use Firefox exclusively on both computers. A HUGE thank-you to Knitting Daily for the gorgeous patterns! Us reluctant (read: all thumbs) lace knitters appreciate a simple place to start! Yippee!!

It is really nice to be able to try some of the patterns out before buying another book of patterns that I may or may not make. I am much more likely to buy a book when I have a better idea of the value of the patterns to me. Thank you.

Thanks much for the sock patterns. I thought you'd like to know I'm in the process of knitting the Seduction socks by Ann Budd. I really like Ann's instructions. I'm using an inexpensive Madelinetosh yarn rather than the beautiful Blue Moon yarn she used. The instructions are so clear and concise that I have no difficulty understanding them. Love you.

I have always had problems with pdf downloads from this site because of the login code attached to the file, both in Firefox and in IE. Claudia's comment above was the answer, once I followed her instructions to reconfigure the PDF download option I can now download in either program with no troubles. Thanks Claudia!

Beautiful Patts as usual - the Sideways Spencer was a huge hit for our 17 yo graddau's B'day! As to Logging In before downloading, I know of no other way to receive these so I agree; one must register and they then download onto the Desktop. From there it's easy to open the PDFs. Hi I'm in Australia. My suggestion re: download problems is that it could simply be a combination of Internet Provider+Browser+(and this is a big PLUS) the setup of individual computers. There are so many variables in IT that it could be ... ANYTHING!!! If it really is a huge problem, get it checked by somebody that REALLY KNOWS WHAT THEY'RE DOING ie. a technician. :) :) :) No, I'm not a tech, but I do work with IT. My thanks as well for the patterns!!

I only printed the Arrowhead lace pattern scarf, but the printer colored in the white areas blue, so the stitch detail is barely visible. No trouble downloading with Adobe, however calling a pattern "Easy", then marking the skill level as Intermediate is not my idea of easy> Otherwise all patterns are lovely!
KaelaC wrote

Something's wrong with the login redirect. If you click the pattern and are not logged in, you get taken to a login page. Once you log in, nothing happens. You are on a page with a header and footer but no content. The expected behavior would be to either go directly to the download or at least to the page you started from before starting the process.

I too have had problems. Try this Firefox users: you need to choose button #4 (bypass PDF download) from the dialog that comes up when you start the download, and it will work. I'm using FF 3.08 and the first 3 button choices confuse the download as there is extra code attached to the PDF download. OR, you can change your 'download PDF' settings. Go to TOOLS>PDF DOWNLOAD OPTIONS choose the OPENING PDF 'tab' and then choose "use PDF plugin". Again, I'm using FF 3.08, the latest version, and this is accurate. Don't know about different version. Good luck!

The problem may be with an Add-On on Firefox called "PDF Download." If you have that add-on, either disable it or choose to ignore it and your problems should be over. I had the same problem until I disabled the add-on and then then problem disappeared and I was able to download the patterns. Hope that helps.
