When are you going to post this as a free pattern? I've looked in stores in a 50 mile radius of my home and it is nowhere to be found. It's hard to participate in a KAL without the pattern.

I think this pattern is gorgeous & perfect for the knitalong. I already have the magazine issue it is in, but I would love to be able to download it as a pdf. I would also like to see a list of possible yarn substitutions, especially including some yarn we could find at Joann's Fabrics. (Is there a similar weight yarn made by Red Heart, Caron or Lion Brand that would be easier for many of us to find & buy?) I have never heard of the yarn this sweater uses & that is one of the reasons I have not tried knitting it already. I love cables & I will definitely knit it as a part of the knitalong as long as I can figure out what yarn to substitute.

Regading "modeled with negative ease" how would you modify this sweater for a LARGE bust, small frame?  Like for someone wearing a Chantelle 33/34 DDDD/G or H bra with a fairly slender petite frame otherwise?  This sweater's cute - but if I can't adjust the front bustline it's no good to me.

I love this pattern and vote for it as the next KAL.  I will have to knit the sleeves several inches longer--esp. if I wear it without an underT as shown in the photo.  Now--I need to find my Fall Interweave Knit and see if I have any appropriate yarn in one of these containers here in my office.  I truly am trying to get this place organized and have made a great deal of progress this last year but it is still o n my 'New Year Resolution' list--again for this year!!

goldenbee wrote

So pretty.  This one might be my knitting resolution - to knit something for myself!

Jenn@16 wrote
on Jan 4, 2010 12:51 PM

"Modeled with negative ease" refers to the retro and now [re]newly fashionable style of a snug fit.  The sweater's finished bust measurement, for example, is slightly smaller than the model's bust measurement.   In this photo you can see it from just below her bust up through her shoulders.  Conversely, a pattern might list 'positive ease', or simply 'ease,'  meaning that the garment is somewhat [or a lot] bigger than the wearer.  This, of course, reflects what the designer had in mind.

YOU decide which size to knit!   I think this sweater would also look lovely with 0 or an inch or two of positive ease.  I would need to consider, for example, that none of the Ts I have to wear under this fit like a leotard, and this underarm fits quite closely on this model.

It IS beautiful!

CynthiaJ@2 wrote

What does it mean " modeled with negative ease?" I have not knitted a sweater or top in a long while. Are the abbreviations standard so I could look them up in any knitting book? Is any place where I could look up how to read a knitting chart?

Thank you very much. Greeting from Houston
