Intermediate hat and mitten set for men and women. This project features Fair Isle stranded colorwork in two colors, in an Andean-inspired motif. The chart is easy to work. A turned-up hem, crown shaping, and thumb gussets make for refined details.

Finished Size Hat: 20" head circumference. Mittens: 8" hand circumference and 10½" long.
Yarn Manos del Uruguay Rittenhouse Merino 5-Ply (100% merino; 200 yd [180 m]/100 g): #540 goldenrod (A) and #543 juniper (B), 1 skein. Yarn distributed by Fairmount Fibers.
Needles Size 7 (4.5 mm): 16" circular (cir) and set of double-pointed (dpn). Spare 16" cir in a smaller size. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions
• Size H/8 (5 mm) crochet hook;
• waste yarn;
• markers (m);
• stitch holder;
• tapestry needle.
Gauge 20 sts and 28 rows = 4" in St st with larger needle.
