Classic cardigan with a modern twist: the cabled belt is knit first, and then stitches for the body and skirt are knit from the belt.

Finished Size 32½ (36, 41½, 43, 48½, 52)" bust circumference, buttoned. Cardigan shown measures 36", modeled with zero ease.
Yarn Classic Elite Kumara (85% merino, 15% camel; 128 yd [117 m]/50 g): #5704 Lombardi blue, 6 (6, 7, 8, 9, 9) balls.
Needles 8 (5 mm): 32" circular (cir) and set of 4 or 5 double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions Markers (m); cable needle (cn); stitch holders; tapestry needle; one 1⅛" button; 2 sets of hook-and-eye closures.
Gauge 18 sts and 22 rows = 4" in St st; cable panel measures 2" wide.
