In a regular ssk you slip both stitches one at a time from the left needle to the right as if to knit, then insert the left needle through the two slipped stitches on the right needle and knit together through the back loops.  In Jarod's example you slip the first stitch as if to knit and the second as if to purl then knit together through the back loops as in the regular method.

I agree with Barbara.  Jared's ssk technique sounds great, but I couldn't really grasp it by the photography.

Would be more helpful if it were turned around so it wouldn't have to be viewed upsidedown.
