During its prime, bead knitting was viewed in central Europe as a specialized art knitting. It spread to Nurnberg, Bohemia, Venice, and mountain areas where the glass bead industry was established. Pouches, purses, cuffs, and socks were made with rich bead patterns and sold as desirable rarities. This pattern can be found in Stephanie van der Linden's Around the World in Knitted Socks.
