I want to make this so badly, but have a hesitation as to what to do, as did Ann in her comment below. Any answers on how to pick up 192 stitches when only 96 were cast on? How did Ann complet the scarf?

It is a beautiful scarf, and happy belated birthday!

I just finished the scarf and love it...have a question though. When picking up the stitches with second Angora the pattern tells you to pick up 192 stitches on the CO row. How can you pick up that many stitches when you only cast on 96? After spending so much time trying to figure it out I just did it my way! Turned out okay but I would like for it to "be right". Happy Birthday Kathleen and "Thank You".

I live in the Vancouver area of Canada and your Knitting Daily TV program does not air in Canada or does it air in the neighbouring State of Bellingham Washington area.  What would it take to have it so we can watch it here, there is a very large knitting comunity in our area.

Happy Birthday Kathleen!

Thanks for the pattern, I usually hate to do projects with really long rows, because I can not put my work down in the middle of a row but I also have some lovely fluff waiting for a project so this is perfect!

Happy knitting,

Gerda

Could you please explain the stiches?

Row 1:

K and inc 1 in each st across—192 sts.

Row 2:

*Inc in next st, inc in next st, k 1; rep from *.

Anne Baker wrote

For gomezandrea:  You are increasing twice and then K1 so one third of the 192 sts are not increased.  Two thirds of the 192 are increaseed (128) which added to 192 is 320.

Thanks for reminding me of knitted ruffles!  I have some lovely light pink Rowan Kidsilk calling to be knit into ruffles!  Happy Birthday!

gomezandrea wrote

I am unclear about row 2...  if you start row 2 with 192 sts, how do you increase 2 sts for each 1 there and end up with 320?  It says 'increase 1, increase 1, knit 1' right?  Or am I reading this wrong?

Thanks, love all that you do and send out!  Andrea

I wish you a very happy birthday Kathleen. Enjoy your new scarf.

Thank you so much for the ruffled scarf pattern. I will start one today with soft yarn that has been in waiting for a scarf.

A warm scarf is much needed here in southern Wisconsin with subzero temps and windchills.

Enjoy every moment of your special day.

Happy Birthday Kathleen!

I made a similar scarf pattern last year, but I started with a provisional cast on.  That way I didn't have to pick up stitches and I could just  knit away on the second side. No bumby line which I always get when I have to pick up stitches.

Enjoy your day and your fabulous angora ruffles :)
