ZELDA'S CLOCHE

Paint the town in this flapper-style felted cloche. Knit up quickly in worsted yarn, this vintage-inspired hat will dress up any outfit. Embellished with a felted flower.

Finished Size 23" brim circumference.

Yarn O-Wool Classic Worsted (100% certified organic merino wool; 99 yd [90 m]/1¾ oz [50 g]): #9103 ash (MC), 3 skeins; #4411 begonia (A), 1 skein; #6402 saffron (B), small amount for center of flower. Yarn distributed by Tunney Wool Company.

Needles Cloche-size 10½ (6.5 mm): 16" circular (cir) and set of 4 double-pointed (dpn). Flower-size 10 (6 mm): straight. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions Markers (m); tapestry needle.

Gauge 14 sts and 19 rnds = 4" in St st with 2 strands of MC held together on larger needles, before felting; 15 sts and 20 rnds = 4" after felting.

I used a 13 needle after starting with the 10 1/2, ripping out and starting over a few times.  I guess it would have been the size of a thimble if I'd stayed with the 10 1/2.

I now have a beautiful purple felted golf hat.  These felted patterns are iffy at best.  Noni patterns are the only ones I have had consistently good luck with.

I have done many knitted felted items.  I have just started this and it looks like it will fit w/o felting.

Something is wrong here.

I also had problems with the pattern.  Why is the pattern telling us to work the brim only 16 rounds after working the crown?  I was able to modify the pattern when I caught that problem, and mine came out beautifully, but I was disappointed in the quality of the written instructions.  The finished product is fine.  Instructions......not so much.

love this hat BUT before I order, is the pattern correct? If not, can a corrected version be had?

Hat sits atop my head like a beanie BEFORE felting.  Either this is a very small size or errors in pattern, such as many rows missing.  I've checked the pattern several times and am sure that I followed it correctly, very disappointing.  Photo is really cute, but not what I got.

I have finished what the pattern says, but it seem too shallow. Like there are several rows missing from the body of the hat. Plus I only used about half of the yarn required. I don;t want to felt it until I figure out how to finish it.

On the second round of the body, labeled Inc Rnd: It says knit to the last 3 st, k1f&b then knit 1.  What happens to the extra 3rd stitch?
