Senorita Cindita:
Just one of many nick~names bestowed upon me. Number 22 is my college basketball uniform number, from Weber State.
After college, I became an international player, and traveled throughout the world. In every country, the women knitted all their sweaters, and the yarns available were natural fibers and gorgeous! My roommate in New Zealand patiently taught me to knit. My first project was a bulky sweater with a swirl of leaves across the front. Later, I played in Sweden, and marveled at the hand knit lace which adorned their homes (draperies, table linens, and bedding.) My teammates chuckled at how I knitted. They couldn't stand it, and taught me a different style (continental), which utilized a more fluid motion, and my speed of knitting increased. Since I couldn't read in Swedish, I began a practice of improvising my own designs. My time for knitting dropped off a bit when my boys were young, but I would pick it up when I traveled and had a lot of down time. A cap or scarf is a perfect project to work up on a weekend holiday, and doesn't add much bulk to your bag. It is a special feeling to create a gift with the individual's personality and lifestyle in mind. I love it when my boys pick out a ball of yarn and ask me to make something for them or their friends. Most of my projects do become gifts, so I usually take a couple photos to keep for reference. Knitting Daily has become a valuable reference for learning new techniques and designs. I have been inspired to take on some lace work, and shadow knitting for projects this year.
