I am an avid crafter. I went from beading for three years to knitting after some 35 yrs of not doing it. My husband and I motorhome in the winter to Florida but are in a home in cold New York State this winter. I have always done sewing projects and quilting but never got so envolved that it went on for too many years. A woman neighbor, who was in our resort park in 2003, started me knitting those skinny scarves. I took it a step further and began with head warmers and the rest is history....,i'm hooked! My sister and her friend have knitting night and I began doing felted bags 2 yrs ago and then they got me doing mittens and socks. Now I do felted hats, children's sweaters, clogs and anything that I think I can do. Whenever I have questions, My sister says "follow the pattern". Those are the most helpful words I could empart also. Get some good "how to" books from Interweave and some stitch samples books and have a go. We go to the Fiber Fest in Holcomb NY each September and there you can find the neatest patterns and yarns and see the sheep etc. Great fun! As one demonstrator at the festival told me...Jumb off the cliff and start where you want to even if it looks too difficult and that's what I do. My recent success was kids felted clogs. What fun they were.
