I'm 55 yo and have knit since I was 6 yo. I also crochet, tat, spin, felt, dye, and am learning to weave. Fiber arts has been a mainstay in my life through thick and thin, good times and bad. It helps me sort through things in my mind, and have found it's like meditating if you have the right pattern. I teach children and adults how to knit and crochet. I even write my own patterns if the ones I find for children are just too difficult for them, especially for young beginners (4-7 yo) as they don't have the dexterity. Each child is gauged individually so I know where they are and can teach them in a way that they'll understand, can accomplish the goal and show them where to go so they can get to the next point in their knitting adventures. I do the same with older children, teens, and adults of all ages--male or female. I hope to be doing fiber arts when I'm 100 yo.
