ArtfulSoul: exactly what I did too. But I forgot to reverse the miter in the corners. Don't do that LOL SoCalMeaghan: Ok, I think this is a legitimate question (unlike my last post): when doing the border facing are folks lining the whole continuous...

hennyknitting: SoCalMeaghan: daylecrain: I did not see the answer to the question regarding the 8 increased stitches. I too can only see where 6 stitches would be added on the 3 sections. Can anyone help? Do I just consider this to be one of the "errata"...

imalulu: So, trouble right away on the continous border. I followed the designer's directions exactly for size 44 3/4 and I get 3 sts more than the directions say on the very first row!! I'm going to go back and "fudge" to start with...

Islandgilr: I've got about 5 rows of my border done and was thinking giant hook and eyes but I like the idea of snaps better. Guess the fabric stores still sell big ones... if not may be making a trip to a thrift store for an old coat or something...

JanC@30: Artful Soul, you are the greatest, so THANK YOU! I noticed you got a reply from the designer about sewing lives stitches for the continuous border , but: does she ever answer the question of what to do with the rest of needle 1 after reaching...

SoCalMeaghan: Ok lovely knitting ladies - I have a question that I haven't found an answer for yet in the Forum. This leads me to believe that I'm behind in my knitting skills so I'm coming to you for a solution. I have only ever had to pick...
  • Re: THE OFFICIAL PAN-AM JACKET KNIT-ALONG POST

HI, I still haven't located my issue yet and am wondering how deep the borders are. I'm adding length in both body and sleeves and need to know when to stop. Thanks, Yvonne

Docdixon: Could I impose on either of you to provide a paragraph explaining the border? I am having problems finding the information I need because there is a little bit here and there in the posts. There are different issues that each of us will find...

Mommorita: Thank you so much, SoCallMeaghan. Your advice really did get me through that tricky start. I'll have to try that champagne boost when I get stuck again! By hte way, I love your Tree of Life afghan, it's beautiful. You're welcome...
  • Re: THE OFFICIAL PAN-AM JACKET KNIT-ALONG POST

The gusset is done and I am pleased with the results. The designer's join for the sleeve underarm is very nice - but no wiggle room at all. When I saw the size of the opening, I decided on a gusset. Yes, the knitted fabric is very stretchy and I think...
  • Re: THE OFFICIAL PAN-AM JACKET KNIT-ALONG POST

Dianajo....your gusset looks fantastic. How do you do a gusset like that? Can you explain? Lynne, aka imalulu dianajoknits: I'm having success uploading and thought i would include a pic of my finished gusset. Boy, did I need it.

ArtfulSoul: dianajoknits: Yes, sleeve facing for me was two needle sizes smaller and it worked perfectly Dianajoknits...I worked one sleeve through the facing sewn down, and did not like the look. For one thing, my sleeve was too short, so I've ripped...
  • Re: THE OFFICIAL PAN-AM JACKET KNIT-ALONG POST

dianajoknits: Now that I've worked on the jacket facing, I think that if you do the sleeve facing in stockinette, you will have to go down to a smaller needle. or you will get that bell shape. I'm very happy that I went down two needle sizes for...
  • Re: THE OFFICIAL PAN-AM JACKET KNIT-ALONG POST

I have a reply from Ashely about the Border Facing finishing! Hi! The live sts are indeed sewn down individually for a closure (for both the collar and body sts) -- it gives you more control over the final tension of the facing. You could of course substitute...
