My paternal grandmother taught me to knit the same way her mother, who was both German and left-handed, taught her. As a result, I am a "thrower". Apparently it looks awkward because my mother and maternal grandmother, who are both "pickers", cannot bear to watch. But I get the job done. I prefer to embellish with shaping/texture/cables instead of multiple colours because (A) carrying colours does bad things to my tension and (B) I really hate weaving in ends so the fewer the better.
