I learned to knit in Brownie Scouts when I was 8. Now (fifty years later) I continue to knit and crochet big and small projects. When I was living in Michigan with two children, I knit each of them a sweater every year, often making something for me as well. Now I knit for my two grandchildren. I taught my daughter to knit when she was young and she has used the skill to make gifts for her friends. She often designs her own patterns: hats and purses are her favorites. I used knitting to keep me awake and focused in grad school in my 40's. Now knitting is my companion after work. It helps me unwind from the day and avoid snacking!
