Beaded Scarfs

These were made from Deanna Van Assche, beaded scarf pattern. The instructions to get the beads transfered to the yarn were great. These were lots of fun to knit and wear. If you do five rows of beads you have a shorter scarf, if you do four rows of bead the scarf is 60". Either scarf takes I ball of yarn, Ritratto by S. Charles. Including bead the scarf cost $36.00. I have made 3 scarf so far and will continue to make beaded projects.

  1. Thank you for your comment, I am so glad you loved the scarfs. I bought the pattern @ a knit shop for $5.25. It is by Deanna K. Van Assche, called Shell Fringe Scarf. It takes one ball of yarn, Ritratto and 1 large package of size 6 beads for $16.50. There are clear instructions included in the pattern to transfer the beads to your yarn. The scarf is knit in 2 halves then joined. Every row is just knit. If you are a beginner, you may want to have them help you at a knit shop to get started. I had fun knitting the scarfs and am planning to do more beaded projects. Good luck.

  2. I bought the pattern, yarn and beads for this scarf and it is gerogeous. The pattern is so easy and fun to make.  I have knitted 9 inches so far and cannot wait to wear it.  Mine is black with cream pearl colored beads.  So excited I cannot put it down.  I want to be sure I am doing it right.  The beads are no problem but when you get to adding a single bead between the 5 knit stiches, do you add them across the right side and then when you turn, continue adding across the back?   I am making mine 4 rows but I am nervous about running out of beads before I finish the 1st half of the scarf.

Thanks so much for such a beautiful scarf pattern and encouraging us to get adventurous!  Valerie

  3. VeeVee, Yes, when you get down to adding a bead between the 5 stitches, you add the beads, then turn your work and add  beads on that side too. So beads are added to both sides of the knitting. Hope that helps. I have not run out of beads on my 3 scarfs but beads come in different sized packets.
