Well since my sweetie ended up with my 'practice' double knit potholder (the cat one) and all it's mistakes, I decided to make him another. He's a great cook, is part Irish, very romantic and suggested a Claddagh ring for me for me when we first started dating so I am hoping he'll like this Claddagh design on a potholder as a Valentine's present.
You can read about Claddagh rings on the web, but basically the heart represents love, hands-friendship and the crown-loyalty and I like to think the arms wrapping around as a big hug.
Since it is Valentine's Day and love is in the air, I thought I would try to share my pattern. It's mostly just the charts with a tad of instructions, but probably not enough if you have never double knitted. I did attach the You-tube videos I watched to learn how to double knit under the rooster potholder discussions section.
I like to create charts for both front and back sides to make it easier on my brain while knitting…and it helps me make fewer mistakes. (The picture above is of just 1 potholder, I took a picture of both front & back and than pasted them into the same picture.)
I finally got a pdf to link to this site – yeah! If you can't open the link or something needs correction, better instructions or you need me to e-mail you the pattern, just send me a conversation on Knitting Daily, with your e-mail and I'll send you the pattern.
Okey, I've now posted this pattern to my own Website – in PDF format. (It's easy to read and prints nice).
Not much else on my site yet. I'm still just learning. I've added links to the double knitting tutorials and I'm working on some free starter patterns for double knitting (drink coasters), which don't take up much yarn and are more fun than just a test swatch of double knitting.
