When I first saw the cover image for the book, I feel in love with this pattern. It's classic Amy—simple but engaging, and flattering for all body types. There's no waist shaping, as the large eyelet stitch gently flows with the body, and the basic sleeves perfectly complement the stitch pattern>
I made two small adjustments, involving the sleeves. I find that most patterns written for my size have arms and armholes that are too big for my comfort. So I shortened the armholes on the body just a bit, and made corresponding changes to the sleeves. I also knit a smaller circumference for the ribbing and then increased like crazy (but in a mostly orderly fashion) to get to the necessary stitch counts for the sleeve cap.
The yarn is the Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport and this is my new favorite color of theirs, called Farwell. It's the same color we used for Allyson Dykhuizen's Fire Opal Tee from Knitscene Spring 2014, which is when I first fell in love with this perfect blend of purples and reds. I used just under 7 skeins of yarn for the 45½" sweater.
Have you knit any projects from Amy's book? Let me know in the comments—I'd love to see them!
Until next time, happy knitting!
